The global evolution of pathogens causing early-onset sepsis (EOS), a critical condition in preterm infants, necessitates re-evaluation risk factors to develop updated prevention and treatment strategies. This nationwide case–control study Taiwan analyzed data from the National Health Insurance Research Database, Birth Reporting Maternal Child Database 2010 2019. included 176,681 mother–child pairs with births. We identified 2942 clinical EOS cases 5535 diagnosed cases, excluding unlikely...

Abstract Background Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) is a condition that impacts certain children following recovery from COVID-19. Programmed death-1 (PD-1) and its ligands, PD-L1 PD-L2, may play critical role in the immune response PASC. However, specific functions these components PASC among pediatric patients remain unclear. Methods The study participants were recruited DISCOVER (Diagnosis Support for COVID Children to Enhance Recovery) study, conducted at China Medical...

Abstract Background Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) are prevalent pathogens responsible for respiratory tract infections in infants young children. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the clinical presentations outcomes among hospitalized children with RSV hMPV infections. Methods retrospective observational was conducted at China Medical University Children's Hospital (CMUCH) from January 2020 December 2021. The enrolled patients under 5...

The COVID-19 pandemic and Taiwan’s strict prevention policies from May 2020 to April 2023 significantly altered the epidemiology of viral infections. This study analyzed pediatric influenza cases at Wei Gong Memorial Hospital January 2015 March 2024. Clinical features were compared among children hospitalized during Omicron BA.2.3.7 (April–July 2022), BA.5 (August–December JN.1 (2024) waves those with in 2024 2015–2016. Between 2024, there 2729 A (36.6%), 974 B (13.1%), 3752 (50.3%) cases,...

Herpes zoster is rare in healthy children, but immunocompromised persons have an increased risk of herpes and severe diseases. Considering the very limited information on children with cancer, we performed a nationwide population-based cohort study to estimate incidence cancer explore association between 2 Data were obtained from National Health Research Institutes Database Taiwan. Background: Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC) affects patients after recovering from acute coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study investigates the impact vaccination on PASC symptoms in children Taiwan during Omicron pandemic. Methods: We enrolled under 18 years with persisting for more than 4 weeks. Data collected included demographics, clinical information, status, and symptom persistence. used logistic regression models to compare post-COVID-19 phases assess...

Dear Editor, Influenza viruses are transmitted through droplets and particle aerosols from the coughs sneezes of infected people contact with surfaces that have been contaminated. In addition to receiving an influenza vaccine, wearing a mask observing strict hand hygiene essential preventing infection.1 The annual season in Taiwan is typically November March. Aplastic Anemia (AA) is a rare but fatal hematologic disease that may occur at any age and especially higher in Asia. We investigated whether Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) beneficial to AA patients as complementary therapy using nationwide population-based database Taiwan between 2000-2016. Patient survival was estimated by Kaplan‒Meier analyses Cox proportional-hazard model. CHM-users presented lower risks of overall anemia-related mortalities when compared non-users. The risk mortality for...

Power management has become a great concern in VLSI design recent years. In this paper, we consider the logic level technique for low power applications. We present retiming-based optimization method, which part of circuit is selected and moved so that it produces signals one clock cycle before they are actually applied. If these values can solely determine output level, then other be turned-off to save power. explore acceptable retimed structures, function not changed. An algorithm proposed...

Abstract Gram-positive (GP) pathogens are less accounted for in pediatric urinary tract infection (UTI), and their clinical impact is underrecognized. This study aimed to identify predictors of GP uropathogens UTI. In this 14-year retrospective cohort patients with UTI, we classified first-time UTIs cases into those caused by or Gram-negative (GN) bacteria.
