Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) surveillance may improve empiric antimicrobial therapy, since colonizing strains frequently cause infections. This colonization be 'endogenous' or 'exogenous', and the source determines infection control measures. We prospectively investigated sources of PA, clinical impact PA upon admission dynamics at different body sites throughout intensive care unit stay. Intensive patients were screened on weekly from pharynx, endotracheal aspirate, rectum urine. Molecular...

Abstract In a multicenter, nationwide, retrospective study of patients hospitalized with spotted fever group rickettsiosis in Israel during 2010–2019, we identified 42 cases, which 36 were autochthonous. The most prevalent species was the Rickettsia conorii Israeli tick typhus strain (n = 33, 79%); infection this necessitated intensive care for 52% and associated 30% fatality rate. A history bite rare, found only 5% patients; eschar 12%; leukocytosis more common than leukopenia. Most (72%)...

We report a series of 5 case-patients who had Israeli spotted fever, whom 2 purpura fulminans and died. Four were given diagnosis on the basis PCR skin biopsy specimens 3-4 days after treatment with doxycycline; 1 case-patient was seroconversion. Rickettsia spp. from died sequenced identified as conorii subsp. israelensis. Purpura has been described in association R. rickettsii indica, but rarely

Acute Q fever is endemic in Israel, yet the clinical and laboratory picture poorly defined.A retrospective study reviewing medical records of acute patients, conducted a single hospital Sharon district, Israel. Serum samples from suspected cases were preliminary tested by qualitative enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Confirmatory testing at reference used an indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Positive defined as with least one other symptom accepted criteria such single-phase II immunoglobulin...
