Environmental and anthropogenic changes are expected to promote emergence spread of pathogens worldwide. Since 2013, human urogenital schistosomiasis is established in Corsica island (France). Schistosomiasis a parasitic disease affecting both humans animals. The parasite involved the Corsican outbreak hybrid form between Schistosoma haematobium, parasite, bovis, livestock parasite. S. bovis has been detected few decades ago raising questions whether hybridization occurred if animals could...

Giardia duodenalis (syn. G. lamblia, intestinalis) is the protozoan parasite responsible for giardiasis, most common and widely spread intestinal parasitic disease worldwide, affecting both humans animals. After cysts ingestion (through either contaminated food or water), excysts in upper tract to release replicating trophozoites that are production of symptoms. In gut, cohabits with host's microbiota, several studies have revealed importance this gut ecosystem and/or some probiotic bacteria...

ABSTRACT Primates are regularly infected by fungal organisms identified as Pneumocystis carinii . They constitute a valuable population for the confirmation of P. host specificity. In this study, presence was assessed direct examination and nested PCR at mitochondrial large subunit (mtLSU) rRNA dihydropteroate synthetase (DHPS) genes in 98 lung tissue samples from captive or wild nonhuman primates. Fifty-nine air corresponding to environment different primate species zoological parks were...

Bovine leukemia virus (BLV), an oncovirus related to human T-cell type I, causes a B-cell lymphoproliferative syndrome in cattle, leading inversion of the T-cell/B-cell ratio and, more rarely, lymphosarcoma. Sheep are highly sensitive BLV experimental infection and develop pathologies similar those cattle 90% cases. tropism for B cells has been well documented, but other cell populations may also be involved BLV-induced syndrome. We thus looked provirus leukocyte sheep by using PCR. found...

Giardiasis, a widespread intestinal parasitosis affecting humans and animals, is growing concern due to the emergence of drug-resistant strains G. intestinalis. Probiotics offer promising alternative for preventing treating giardiasis. Recent studies have shown that probiotic Lactobacillus johnsonii CNCM I-4884 inhibits intestinalis growth both in vitro vivo. This protective effect largely mediated by bile salt hydrolase (BSH) enzymes, which convert conjugated acids (BAs) into free forms are...

We are currently witnessing the endemization of urogenital schistosomiasis in southern Europe. The incriminated parasite is a hybrid between human and livestock parasite. Using an experimental evolutionary protocol, we created lines from pure strains both species. showed that host spectrum enlarged to after genomic introgression. also evidenced tropism parasites within changes some more virulent than parental strains. These results engage paradigm shift zoonotic transmission schistosomiasis.
