Calmodulin (CaM), a ubiquitous calcium-binding protein, regulates diverse cellular functions by modulating the activity of variety enzymes and proteins. Plants express numerous CaM isoforms that exhibit differential activation and/or inhibition CaM-dependent in vitro. However, specific biological plant are not well known. In this study, we isolated cDNA encoding binding transcription factor, MYB2, expression salt- dehydration-responsive genes Arabidopsis. This was achieved using...

Abstract Calcium (Ca2+) signals regulate many aspects of plant development, including a programmed cell death pathway that protects plants from pathogens (hypersensitive response). Cytosolic Ca2+ result combined action influx through channels and efflux pumps cotransporters. Plants utilize calmodulin-activated (autoinhibited Ca2+-ATPase [ACA]) at the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, vacuole. Here, we show double knockout mutation vacuolar ACA4 ACA11 in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis...

Calmodulin (CaM), a ubiquitous calcium-binding protein, regulates diverse cellular functions by modulating the activity of variety proteins. However, little is known about how CaM directly transcription. Screening an Arabidopsis cDNA expression library using horseradish peroxidase-conjugated calmodulin as probe identified calmodulin-binding NAC protein (CBNAC). Using gel overlay assays, Ca2+-dependent CaM-binding domain was in C terminus this protein. Specific binding to corroborated...

In plant cells, the vacuole functions as a major calcium store. Although calmodulin‐regulated Ca 2+ ‐ATPase (ACA4) is known to be present in prevacuolar compartments, presence of an ACA‐type mature cell has not been verified. Here we provide evidence that ACA11 localizes membrane. tagged with GFP was expressed stable transgenic plants, and visualized root cells protoplasts by confocal microscopy. A function for confirmed complementation yeast mutants. calmodulin binding domain identified...

The mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are key signal transduction molecules, which respond to various external stimuli. MAPK phosphatases (MKPs) known be negative regulators of MAPKs in eukaryotes. We screened an <i>Arabidopsis</i> cDNA library using horseradish peroxidase-conjugated calmodulin (CaM), and isolated AtMKP1 as a CaM-binding protein. Recently, tobacco NtMKP1 rice OsMKP1, two orthologs AtMKP1, were reported bind CaM via single putative binding domain (CaMBD). However,...

Voltage-dependent anion channels (VDACs) are reported to be porin-type, β-barrel diffusion pores. They prominently localized in the outer mitochondrial membrane and involved metabolite exchange between organelle cytosol. In this study, we have investigated a family of VDAC isoforms Arabidopsis thaliana (AtVDAC). We shown that heterologous expression AtVDAC proteins can functionally complement yeast mutant lacking endogenous gene. AtVDACs tagged with GFP were mitochondria both plant cells....

Thyrotoxicosis influences cardiovascular hemodynamics and can induce coronary vasospasm. Patients with thyrotoxicosis-induced acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are unusual almost all reported cases have been associated Graves' disease. painless thyroiditis show a thyrotoxic phase during the early stages. Here we describe very rare case of thyrotoxicosis thyroiditis-induced AMI.A 35-year-old Korean man visited emergency room for 2-hour duration typical AMI chest pain. The patient did not any...

Calmodulin (CaM), a key Ca(2+) sensor in eukaryotes, regulates diverse cellular processes by interacting with many proteins. To identify Ca(2+)/CaM-mediated signaling components, we screened an Arabidopsis expression library horseradish peroxidase-conjugated calmodulin2 (AtCaM2) and isolated homolog of the UBP6 deubiquitinating enzyme family (AtUBP6) containing Ca(2+)-dependent CaM-binding domain (CaMBD). The activity AtUBP6 CaMBD was confirmed CaM mobility shift assay, phosphodiesterase...

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and Graves' disease are the common causes of menstrual irregularity leading to infertility in women child-bearing age. A 21-year-old female patient visited us with complaints oligomenorrhea hand tremor. She was diagnosed as having PCOS hyperthyroid disease, simultaneously. had low body weight (BMI: 16.4 kg/m2), mild hirsutism, thyrotoxicosis. The treated anti-thyroid drug beta-blocker for about two years, then recovered normal thyroid function. Although some...
