Proximal humerus fractures (PHFs) are frequent and associated with significant health care burden. National epidemiological data limited. Our objective is to characterize the Portuguese population admitted PHFs analyze therapeutic management, impact of lesions, mortality rate. This was a retrospective, observational study admissions from mainland public hospitals (2000-2015), primary or secondary diagnosis PHFs. Incomplete records, pathologic malunion/nonunion, hardware removal were excluded....
Increasing interest has been seen in understanding the anatomy and biomechanics involved Deep Gluteal Syndrome, therefore main objective of our paper was to define deep gluteal space concerning important osseous, muscular neurological structures.12 cadaveric models (24 hemipelvises) were used. We proceeded with classical anatomic dissection evaluated numerous musculotendinous neurologic structures their relationships. also determined femoral anteversion neck-shaft angles. We found that 15.4%...
Because most of the recognized causes superior gluteal nerve (SGN) injury are iatrogenic, detailed knowledge anatomy SGN is crucial to prevent its associated with surgical procedures. This study aims describe precise location or branches at greater sciatic foramen, measure distances these neural structures palpable bony landmarks, and evaluate possible correlation between parameters pelvis size. Twenty human cadaveric hemipelvises were studied. After dissection expose from trochanter (GT),...
Abstract Objective To report a new technique for anatomical acromioclavicular (AC) joint reconstruction. Methods In order to minimize such complications, the authors describe and biological AC repair. This aims provide greater stability by using two anatomically placed clavicular tunnels combined construct with double endobutton cortical fixation primary stabilization, be biologically advantageous an autologous semitendinosus (ST) tendon graft. Additionally, coracoclavicular ligament...

Background
Minimally invasive lateral lumbar interbody fusion is a technique that has become increasingly popular for the treatment of degenerative spine disease; however, pertinent surgical vascular anatomy not been examined in detail. The goal this study to examine lower and median sacral arteries, which are important determinants these outcomes.
Methods
This an observational, experimental based on cadaveric models, including 20 embalmed adult human cadavers. following...

Backgroud. Many subscapularis (SubS) lesions represent the result of progression anterosuperior cuff tears, although their pathophysiology is still relatively unknown. The goal this paper was to determine influence supraspinatus tears in development subcoracoid impingement and therefore SubS tears.Methods.This a retrospective, controlled single-blinded study. We analyzed 301 patients with rotator pathology an MRI study. The coraco-humeral distance coracoid overlap were measured. The presence also...
Loss of reduction is the most common complication following acromioclavicular dislocations treatment, with literature showing greater postoperative coracoclavicular distances associated worse clinical results. We present a surgical gesture that aims to help surgeons achieve and secure an anatomic during fixation. This technique has possibility improve radiological functional results dislocation treatment.
Localized tenosynovial giant cell tumors represent a rare benign proliferative disorder of the synovial and surrounding tissue. This condition has insidious unspecific symptoms that make its diagnosis challenging. In most cases, localized are described in hand infrequent larger joints. cases affect knee, mass previous reports is located almost exclusively anterior compartment meniscocapsular junction. The aim current study was to present case tumor. paper describes twenty-eight years old...
Background: Upper limb traumatic injuries have a significant impact on social and professional life; however, there is still paucity of studies focusing the ulnar border forearm, wrist hand. Methods: We designed retrospective single-blinded study, including all patients with deep wounds affecting side or hand, that received surgical treatment from 2006 until 2016. A characterisation sample, assessment concomitant clinical outcomes, as well neurological functional evaluation were performed....
A 41-year-old right-handed male patient presented to our institution with a chronic distal biceps rupture after failed primary surgery 6 months previously. We performed reconstruction semitendinosus autograft fixed proximally Pulvertaft weave and distally cortical button plus interference screw. The showed complete pain resolution excellent functional results. This is the first case described use of screw for rupture. option doing also allowed us fine-tune final graft tension.
We present a case of muscular cysticercosis incidentally diagnosed in patient admitted for femoral neck fracture and submitted to total hip arthroplasty. Human is parasitic infection representing major health concern developing countries. The clinical features are variable depend on the anatomic location, cyst burden, cysticerci stage, host inflammatory response. Diagnosis commonly incidental, prompt pattern recognition key diagnosis, adequate referral, treatment. This one first reports...
Objectives: Knee alignment following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) may be the most important factor determining long-term survival of prosthesis. Despite proper implants being strongly associated with greater stability and a lower rate loosening, literature still finds conflicting results regarding influence TKA in patients clinical scores. The present study sought to address what is optimal postoperative alignment. Methods: We retrospectively selected 100 consecutive primary replacements...
