Objective The objective was to compare, in a real‐world setting, the risk of mental and physical health events associated with different antipsychotic drugs (clozapine, olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine first‐generation antipsychotics) patients SZ . Methods This is retrospective cohort study using administrative data. Outcome measures included any event (suicide, hospitalization or emergency visit for disorders) (death other than suicide, disorders). Cox proportional hazard models were...

We developed an original rat model for neonatal brain lesions whereby we explored the sequential effects of infectious and hypoxic-ischemic aggressions. investigated influence combined exposure to prenatal infection with insult. Infectious effect was produced by administrating lipopolysaccharide (LPS) intraperitoneally pregnant rats starting on embryonic day 17. Hypoxia-ischemia (H/I) induced in pups at postnatal 1 (P1) ligature right common carotid artery followed hypoxia...

In animals, decades of research have shown that serotonin (5-HT) is involved in endogenous pain inhibition systems, which are deficient chronic disorders such as fibromyalgia (FM). humans, there preliminary evidence showing 5-HT the FM pathophysiology. current endophenotyping study, we sought to investigate, for first time relationships between transporter promoter region (5-HTTLPR) polymorphism and experimentally-induced perception/inhibition healthy controls (HC) patients.Participants were...

Adequate animal glioma models are mandatory for the pursuit of preclinical research in neuro-oncology. Many implantation have been described, but none perfectly emulate human malignant gliomas. This work reports our experience standardizing, optimizing and characterizing Fischer/F98 model on clinical, pathological, radiological metabolic aspects.F98 cells were implanted 70 Fischer rats, varying quantity volume solution, using a micro-infusion pump to minimize trauma, after adequate...

Using a model of perinatal brain lesions induced by lipopolysaccharide and hypoxia/ischemia, we hypothesized that interleukin-2 (IL-2), neurotoxic cytokine, was enhanced within injured brains. We showed hypoxia/ischemia both intracerebral IL-2 mRNA protein levels, with maximum increase upon hypoxia/ischemia. The lack detectable T lymphocytes suggested the synthesis neural cells. Lipopolysaccharide hypoxia triggered cultured microglia peak after exposure to hypoxia. Double-labeling showed, in...

Abstract Most antipsychotic (AP) drugs are dopamine (DA) D2 receptor (DRD2) antagonists and remain the main pharmacological treatment of schizophrenia. Long‐term AP use can give rise to tardive dyskinesia. It has been reported that chronic with APs induces DRD2 upregulation oxidative stress, which have associated We showed previously H 2 O ‐induced stress increased expression in human SH‐SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. report here effects on levels same cell line inhibition phenomena by...

Abstract Abnormalities of striatal dopaminergic neurotransmission play a significant role in the pathophysiology central nervous system disorders such as movement disorders, addictions and schizophrenia. The striatum appears to be exposed intrinsically high levels oxidative stress (OS). Little is known, however, on effect OS regulation dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2), key component neurotransmission. We report here effects H 2 O (a canonical oxidant non conventional messenger)...

There are numerous hurdles down the road for successfully scaling up health promotion innovations into formal programmes. The challenges of scaling-up process have mainly been conceived in terms available resources and technical or management problems. However, aiming greater impact sustainability involves addressing new contexts often adding actors whose perspectives may challenge established orientations. social dimension is thus critical. Building on existing conceptualizations...
