Monodisperse Er(3+):NaGdF(4)@Ho(3+):NaGdF(4)@NaGdF(4) active-core/active-shell/inert-shell nanocrystals, which can extend the near-infrared wavelength excitable range for upconversion (UC) emissions, were successfully fabricated first time. Importantly, doping of Er(3+) and Ho(3+) into core shell respectively suppresses adverse energy transfers between them, resulting in intense UC emissions both dopants.

Novel Yb/Er(Tm):Na3MF7 (M = Zr, Hf) nanocrystals with intrinsic single-band upconversion emission, in contrast to the routine lanthanide-doped fluoride which show typical multi-band emissions, are reported for first time. Specifically, red intensity of Yb/Er:Na3ZrF7 is about 5 times as high that hexagonal Yb/Er:NaYF4 ones a similar crystal size.

NaGdF4 is regarded as an ideal upconversion (UC) host material for lanthanide (Ln3+) activators because of its unique crystal structure, high Ln3+ solubility, low phonon energy and photochemical stability, Ln3+-doped UC nanocrystals (NCs) have been widely investigated bio-imaging magnetic resonance imaging agents recently. To realize their practical applications, controlling the size uniformity monodisperse NCs highly desired. Unlike routine routes by finely adjusting multiple experimental...

Abstract Upon introducing Ca 2+ dopants into the grain lattices by substituting Gd 3+ ions, irregular Yb/Er:NaGdF 4 nanocrystals prepared through a simple solvothermal route convert highly uniform nanorods. Meanwhile, their upconversion luminescence intensifies about 200 times, probably due to modification of crystal structure NaGdF and an improvement in crystallinity nanophase.

Abstract Recently, dual‐atom alloy (DAA, also named diatomic alloy) catalysts with active metal dimers supported by a less host have attracted considerable interest owing to their distinctive geometric and electrical configurations. Despite developing many ways for synthesizing DAA catalysts, most contemporary methods depend on high‐temperature pyrolysis, costly apparatus, intricate procedures. This study presents, the first time, one‐step laser solid‐phase synthesis of (PtRu) 1 Co DAAs...

A series of Er(3+)-doped (1 - x)CaF(2)-xYbF(3) (0 ≤ x 0.6) disordered solid-solution nanocrystals with various mean sizes were successfully prepared by a facile solvothermal route. Interestingly, abnormal size-dependent upconversion emissions demonstrated in these for the first time. With increasing grain size, an obvious enhancement red to green emission ratio was observed Er(3+) (2 mol%): 0.4CaF(2)-0.6YbF(3) nanocrystals, which is opposite routine behavior reported previously. Taking...

Abstract After coating 20 Yb/2 Er:NaGdF 4 core nanocrystals with a NaYbF shell, upconversion emission of the rare earth ions weakens. So far, exact reason for this phenomenon is still unclear due to lack direct evidence. In report, core@shell@shell sandwich‐like structure designed and fabricated investigate phenomenon. We find that high Yb 3+ concentration in shell has mainly two adverse impacts: it promotes not only deleterious back energy transfer from Er but also shell. To obtain...
