Visceral adipose tissue predicts an unfavorable cardiovascular and metabolic risk profile in humans. Existing methods to assess visceral have been limited. Thus, echocardiographic assessment of epicardial as a marker adiposity was suggested. The technique has shown be very reliable method excellent measure adiposity. In this article, tissue's localization on the heart, function, reliability is briefly reviewed. Areas requiring further study are identified.

Serotonin has been shown to be involved in the production of bystander signals by irradiated cells. In this study we examined levels serotonin 10 different batches commercially available fetal calf serum and correlated with toxicity medium harvested from cells (ICCM) using a standard transfer colony-forming assay. The varied widely between batches, directly ICCM. Three samples had below 25 ng/ml, these did not show effects. Exposure normal daylight reduced significantly. We suggest that...

Over two years cord blood from 27 879 babies was screened for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. The overall incidence 3.1% in boys and 1.6% girls. Sixty nine had severe jaundice (bilirubin concentration greater than 380 mmol/l (20 mg/100 ml], exchange transfusion performed. Parents were given written verbal instructions to avoid herbs drugs that trigger kernicterus, which reduced the of kernicterus thereby prevented mental retardation. The 'bystander effect' phenomenon has challenged the traditional framework for assessing radiation damage by showing induced changes in cells which have not been directly targeted, but are neighbors to or receive medium from hit cells. Our group performed a range of single and serial low dose irradiations on two genetically distinct strains mice. Bladder explants established these mice were incubated culture medium, was used measure death responses keratinocyte reporter system. study...

Ingestion of foreign bodies in neonates is very rare and can be life threatening. We describe a 20 days old neonate presented with vomiting, drooling saliva poor feeding tolerance. Chest radiograph showed metallic body superior mediastinum. Foreign was removed by rigid oesophagoscopy. The case describes the unusual age presentation options available to remove these neonates. Yamaguchi syndrome or apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a unique variant of HCM. It characterized by localized hypertrophy involving the left ventricular apex rather than septum. This has been traditionally seen in Asian population, particularly those Japanese descent. We present an interesting case Hispanic male. A 48-year-old male presented with epigastric tenderness and was admitted to hospital for non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. His diagnostic catheterization...

5040 Background: Patients (pts) with GCT and progressive disease (PD) after salvage high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) have dismal outcomes median progression free survival (PFS) overall (OS) of 1.0 4.7 months (mo), respectively (Feldman et al. Cancer 2012). Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has resulted in durable benefit multiple tumor types. We tested D (anti-PD-L1) + T (anti-CTLA-4) for pts relapsed/refractory GCTs a phase II trial (NCT03158064). Methods: Eligible were ≥ 18 years old any...
