Abstract: Needle drainage of subretinal fluid with simultaneous observation using the indirect ophthalmoscope has been reported to have a very low complication rate. The technique was evaluated by prospective clinical trial. study group consisted 100 patients undergoing scleral buckling for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment who were randomly assigned groups treated needle or conventional two-stage drainage. At 1 month, retina anatomically flat in 88% all cases. Subretinal hemorrhage occurred...
The occurrence of atypical vascularization the macular-foveal zone in 20 eyes 17 patients is described. significance this fluorescein stereoangiographic finding discussed.
Foveal microholes are a possible cause of unilateral or bilateral small central visual defects in the absence other macular pathology. In 18 eyes 17 patients we noted following features: small, dark-reddish holes centre fovea ranging from 50 to 150 micron size; normal adjacent retinal pigment epithelium and neuroepithelium; most cases; males females equally affected; mean age 40 years; insidious onset; no history direct eye trauma sungazing; non-progressive; relatively favourable outcome;...
We discuss the use of an inpatient multi-day continuous intravenous ketamine infusion for treatment opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH) and high fentanyl requirements in case a patient with background fibromyalgia/central sensitisation syndrome who underwent complicated post-operative course following right below-knee amputation high-grade myxoid fibrosarcoma. The was successfully tapered off total patch dose 162 mcg/hour every 72 hours (morphine equivalent 389 mg/day) to short-acting...
Abstract Purpose: To evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of retention removal silicone oil in treatment complicated retinal detachments. Methods: The records 344 patients (348 eyes) that underwent vitrectomy injection for detachments were abstracted analysed. anatomical functional results, complications influencing factors are discussed. outcome eyes after was compared with a comparable group which retained. Results: overall reattachment rate 63% (220/348). final vision 5/300 or better...
Abstract Ten cases of choroidal melanoma were treated with Argon and/or Krypton laser photocoagulation in this retrospective study. Each patient received an average 9.6 treatment sessions. Three female and seven male patients followed for 69.9 months. Clinical regression was observed (70%). Tumour size these successfully ranged from 4.5 times 5.0 1.5 mm to 7.0 3.5 mm. Continued growth occurred one case (10%), tumour recurrence which failed respond additional another although a appeared third...
Abstract We describe a flexible approach employing vitrectomy, scleral buckling and intraocular tamponading agents in the treatment of giant retinal tears. Intraocular gas without buckle was used 10 least complicated cases. In five eyes we considered to be necessary addition tamponade. Silicone oil selected as primary agent six most complex cases with PVR re‐operations. The overall anatomical success rate 71 % which 73% had final visual acuity at 6/60 60% achieved 6/18 or better.
Six patients are presented showing the classical angiographic signs of choroidal folding in presence swelling optic disc. Deformation choroid by enlarged nerve head is a possible ætiological factor these cases. The may persist despite subsidence disc swelling.
Abstract We report the case of a 72‐year‐old woman who presented with vitreous opacities unknown cause. A pars plana vitrectomy yielded material in which there were atypical lymphoid cells consistent malignant lymphoma. Five months after vitrectomy, patient re‐presented cerebral Our emphasizes value cytological examination selected cases. also review features lymphoma retina and stress cerebroretinal axis involvement this disease.
Abstract Indirect trauma to the optic nerve with secondary atrophy may result from minor and has traditionally been associated a poor visual prognosis. The case of 32‐year‐old man who suffered blow his left supraorbital region eyebrow in an automatic closing door is reported draw attention uncommon but trivial nature this injury which profound loss. He initial inferonasal field loss was related vascular changes head. Over ensuing year there deterioration central vision due arachnoiditis....
Summary Eleven cases of epiretinal macular membrane formation were treated with vitrectomy and peeling microsurgery. This paper discusses the indications, surgical technique results. Vfsion was benefitted in majority selected for treatment.
53 traction retinal detachments caused by massive periretinal proliferation, trauma, or diabetes were treated pars plana vitrectomy techniques. This paper discusses theirpathogenesis and principles of management. There was a visual improvement in 44% cases an anatomical success rate 57%. Persistent proliferation the principle cause failure.
Background: IPF is a progressive fibrotic lung disease with significant unmet medical needs. Mast cell density increased in tissue, however the relevance to pathophysiology & progression remains poorly understood. Aims: To combine vasculature, airways mast cells identified on immunohistochemistry corresponding microCT of distal segmenting them for individual visualisation. investigate relationships between and structural elements lung. Method: A formalin fixed,...
