As good as gold: Hydration of alkynes by using gold–acid catalyst systems with high turnover frequencies provides a greener synthetic route to carbonyl compounds in yields, shown.
[reaction: see text] Addition of aniline derivatives to aromatic and aliphatic alkynes proceeds efficiently in the presence a gold(I) catalyst (0.01-1.0 mol %) afford ketimines good yields

In legumes, Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CCaMK) is a component of the common symbiosis genes that are required for both root nodule (RN) and arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) symbioses thought to be decoder Ca2+ spiking, one earliest cellular responses microbial signals. A gain-of-function mutation CCaMK has been shown induce spontaneous nodulation without rhizobia, but significance activation in bacterial and/or fungal infection processes not fully understood. Here we show CCaMKT265D...
Changes in intracellular temperatures reflect the activity of cell. Thus, tool to measure could provide valuable information about cellular status. We previously reported a method analyze temperature distribution using fluorescent polymeric thermometer (FPT) combination with fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Intracellular delivery FPT used previous study required microinjection. now report novel that is cell permeable and highly photostable, we describe application this...
Abstract Although cytosolic free Ca2+ mobilization induced by microbe/pathogen-associated molecular patterns is postulated to play a pivotal role in innate immunity plants, the links between and downstream defense responses still remain largely unknown. Calcineurin B-like proteins (CBLs) act as sensors activate specific protein kinases, CBL-interacting kinases (CIPKs). We here identified two CIPKs, OsCIPK14 OsCIPK15, rapidly microbe-associated patterns, including chitooligosaccharides...
The temperature-dependent fluorescence spectra of a new polymeric thermometer enabled highly sensitive and practical ratiometric temperature sensing inside mammalian cells.
Palladium-catalysed carbonylation of aryl halides with alcohols or NEt2H proceeds in ionic liquid media (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate hexafluorophosphate). The catalyst/ionic mixture could be recycled, after separation the product by either distillation extraction ether. Carbonylation forming benzoates was greatly accelerated use liquid.

Abstract A cationic fluorescent nanogel thermometer based on thermo‐responsive N‐isopropylacrylamide and environment‐sensitive benzothiadiazole was developed with a new azo compound bearing imidazolium rings as the first radical initiator. This showed an excellent ability to enter live mammalian cells in short incubation period (10 min), high sensitivity temperature variations (temperature resolution of 0.02–0.84 °C range 20–40 °C), remarkable non‐cytotoxicity, which permitted ordinary cell...

The activity of a platinum dichloride–phosphine–tin(II) chloride complex as hydroformylation catalyst was dramatically enhanced by the use diphosphine ligands which were capable forming strained seven-membered chelate ring; best ligand trans-1,2-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)cyclobutane, afforded hexanals (n/iso = 99/1) from pent-1-ene with much higher reaction rate than HRh(CO)(PPh3)3.

The highest stereoselectivity was attained by use...

For the establishment of an effective root nodule symbiosis, a coordinated regulation infection processes between epidermis and cortex is required. However, it remains unclear whether symbiotic genes identified so far are involved in epidermal and/or cortical infection, e.g. thread formation or cell division. To analyze gene requirements process, we have developed epidermis-specific expression system (pEpi system) examined NFR1, NFR5, NUP85, NUP133, CASTOR, POLLUX, CCaMK, CYCLOPS, NSP1 NSP2...
