We present the China Ocean ReAnalysis version 2 (CORA2) in this paper. compare CORA2 with its predecessor, CORA1, and other ocean reanalysis products created between 2004 2019 [GLORYS12v1 (Global Simulation), HYCOM (HYbrid Coordinate Model), GREP Reanalysis Ensemble Product), SODA3 (Simple Data Assimilation, 3), ECCO4 (Estimating Circulation Climate of Ocean, 4)], to demonstrate improvements reliability. In addition providing tide sea ice signals, accuracy eddy kinetic energy (EKE) are also...

<title>Abstract</title> At night in Earth's polar regions, energetic aurorae frequently penetrate into the atmosphere, driving turbulent electrojet currents bottomside ionosphere. During day, however, plasma environment become highly conductive, caused by constant extreme ultraviolet radiation emitted from Sun. The high-conductivityplasma dayside ionosphere can effectively short out turbulence around aurorae, and so is rare high-latitude In this report, we show observations to contrary....

Abstract. A Global Carbon Assimilation System based on the ensemble Kalman filter (GCAS-EK) is developed for assimilating atmospheric CO2 data into an ecosystem model to simultaneously estimate surface carbon fluxes and distribution. This assimilation approach similar CarbonTracker, but with several new developments, including inclusion of concentration in state vectors, using (EnKF) 1-week windows, analysis states iteratively forecast errors, a maximum likelihood estimation inflation...

Abstract A coupled ocean-wave-sea spray model system is used to investigate the impacts of sea and surface roughness on response upper ocean passage super typhoon Haitang. Sea mediated heat momentum fluxes are derived from an improved version Fairall’s formulation (Zhang et al., 2017) Andreas’s spray-mediated flux models. For winds ranging low extremely high speeds, a new parameterization scheme for developed, in which effects wave state introduced. In this formulation, drag coefficient has...

However, prevailing explanation is challenged by observations chorus wave-driven energetic particle precipitation on closed lines, which excited strong modulations ionospheric electric field. Intense Hall current channels formed along open-closed...

Abstract In this paper, a global carbon assimilation system (GCAS) is developed for optimizing the land surface flux at 1° resolution using multiple ecosystem models. GCAS, three models, Boreal Ecosystem Productivity Simulator, Carnegie‐Ames‐Stanford Approach, and Community Atmosphere Biosphere Land Exchange, produce prior fluxes, an atmospheric transport model, Model OZone And Related chemical Tracers, used to calculate CO 2 concentrations resulting from these fluxes. A local ensemble...

With global warming, extreme high temperatures become more frequent and are an important factor affecting aircrafts’ takeoff performance. Using Community Earth System Model version 1 (CESM1) Boeing Performance Software (BPS), the influence of increasing temperature on maximum weight (MTOW) distance is evaluated quantitatively in this study. The results show that distribution summer daily shifts obviously to higher at all chosen airports variation larger four (Jinan, Shanghai, Lhasa, Urumqi)...

Results show that (Kuroshio) weakens (strengthens) in response to via ocean (atmosphere) adjustments. More precisely, acceleration mainly due anomalous wind stress over North Pacific, while gyre adjustments Atlantic are responsible weakened Stream. As positive buoyancy fluxes induced by trigger a...

Assimilating observations to a land surface model can further improve soil moisture estimation accuracy. However, assimilation results largely rely on forecast error and generally cannot maintain water budget balance. In this study, shallow are assimilated into Common Land Model (CoLM) estimate the in different layers. A proposed inflation balance constraint adopted Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter reduce analysis residuals. The indicate that is reduced imbalance mitigated with approach.

Abstract. Assimilating observations of shallow soil moisture content into land models is an important step in estimating content. In this study, several modifications ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) are proposed for improving assimilation. It was found that a forecast error inflation-based approach improves the layers, but it can increase analysis deep layers. To mitigate problem layers while maintaining improvement vertical localization-based introduced study. During data assimilation...
