Swarm, a three-satellite constellation to study the dynamics of Earth’s magnetic field and its interactions with Earth system, is expected be launched in late 2013. The objective Swarm mission provide best ever survey geomagnetic temporal evolution, order gain new insights into system by improving our understanding interior environment. In derive advanced models (and other higher-level data products) it necessary take explicit advantage aspect Swarm. SCARF (SatelliteConstellationApplication...
Abstract Data from the first year of ESA's Swarm constellation mission are used to derive Initial Field Model (SIFM), a new model Earth's magnetic field and its time variation. In addition conventional observations provided by each three satellites, explicit advantage is taken aspect including east‐west intensity gradient information lower satellite pair. Along‐track differences in provide further concerning north‐south gradient. The SIFM static shows excellent agreement (up at least degree...
For the first time, to best of our knowledge, laser cooling is reported in a silica optical fiber. The fiber has 21-µm diameter core doped with 2.06 wt.% ${{\rm Yb}^{3 + }}$Yb3+ and co-doped Al}_2}{{\rm O}_3}$Al2O3 F}^ - }$F- increase critical quenching concentration by factor 16 over largest values for Yb-doped silica. Using custom slow-light Bragg grating sensor, temperature changes up $ {50}\;{\rm mK}$-50mK were measured 0.33 W/m absorbed pump power per unit length at 1040 nm....
Abstract The use of fundamental modelocking to generate short terahertz (THz) pulses and THz frequency combs from semiconductor lasers has become a routine affair, using quantum cascade (QCLs) as gain medium. However, unlike classic laser diodes, no demonstrations harmonic modelocking, active or passive, have been shown in QCLs, where multiple per round trip are generated when the is modulated at harmonics cavity’s round-trip frequency. Here, time-resolved techniques, we show for first time...
In optically pumped lasers, heat generated by the quantum defect causes detrimental fluctuations in output mode, frequency, and power. Common heat-mitigation techniques use bulky mechanical coolers that introduce vibrations, leading to laser frequency amplitude noise. Here, we present a radiation-balanced fiber laser, cooled anti-Stokes fluorescence (ASF). The gain medium is silica with 21-µm-diameter core doped 2.06 wt. % <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"...
Data-based modeling of the magnetic field originating in Earth's ionosphere is challenging due to multiple timescales involved and small spatial scales some current systems, especially equatorial electrojet (EEJ) that flows along dip equator. The Dedicated Ionospheric Field Inversion (DIFI) algorithm inverts a combination Swarm satellite ground observatory data at mid- low latitudes provides models solar-quiet (Sq) EEJ fields on altitude. basis functions these are spherical harmonics...
Abstract The eastward equatorial electric field (EEF) in the E region ionosphere drives many important phenomena at low latitudes. We developed a method of estimating EEF from magnetometer measurements near‐polar orbiting satellites as they cross magnetic equator, by recovering clean signal electrojet current and modeling observed to determine present during satellite pass. This algorithm is now implemented an official Level‐2 Swarm product. Here we first results estimates nearly year data....
The Swarm constellation of satellites was launched in November 2013 and since then has delivered high-quality scalar vector magnetic field measurements. A consortium several research institutions selected by the European Space Agency to provide a number scientific products be made available community on regular basis. In this study, we present dedicated lithospheric inversion model. It uses carefully measurements from three between March 2014 December 2015 directly benefits explicit...
Abstract Using magnetic field data from the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) mission, we derive a global geomagnetic model, which call CSES Global Geomagnetic Field Model (CGGM). This model describes Earth’s main and its linear temporal evolution over time period between March 2018 September 2019. As mission was not originally designed for modelling, carefully assess ability of orbits to provide relevant such purpose. A number issues are identified, an appropriate modelling...
Denervation of skeletal muscle results in rapid atrophy with loss contractile mass and/or progressive degeneration fibers which are replaced to a greater or lesser degree by connective and fatty tissues. In this study, we show that denervated rabbit muscles transformed into white adipose tissue, depending on their fiber types. This tissue does express LPL, G3PDH particularly the ob gene, tissue‐specific marker, not brown molecular marker UCP1 mRNA.
The day-time eastward equatorial electric field (EEF) in the ionospheric E-region plays a crucial role dynamics. It is responsible for driving electrojet (EEJ) current system, vertical ion drifts, and ionization anomaly (EIA). Due to its importance, there much interest accurately measuring modeling EEF both climatological near real-time studies. Swarm satellite mission offers unique opportunity estimate from measurements of geomagnetic field. near-polar orbits each satellite, on-board...
The first observation of cooling by anti-Stokes pumping in nanoparticle-doped silica fibers is reported. Four Yb-doped fabricated using conventional modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) techniques were evaluated, namely, an aluminosilicate fiber and three which the Yb ions encapsulated CaF2, SrF2, or BaF2 nanoparticles. nanoparticles, oxidize during preform processing, provide a environment for Yb3+ that beneficial to cooling. When pumped at near-optimum wavelength 1040 nm atmospheric...
Abstract The role of the Absolute Scalar Magnetometer (ASM) in European Space Agency (ESA) Swarm mission is to deliver absolute measurements magnetic field’s strength for science investigations and in-flight calibration Vector Field (VFM). However, ASM instrument can also simultaneously vector with no impact on magnetometer’s scalar performance, using a so-called mode. This mode has been continuously operated since beginning mission, except short periods time during commissioning. Since both...

Satellite near‐surface measurements detect different length scales are complementary. Here, we build a model, selecting processing from German CHAMP ESA Swarm satellites, which merge with scalar anomaly data. We follow regional approach for modeling next transform series models into unique set spherical harmonic (SH) Gauss coefficients. This produces first global model...
