A high-accuracy fiber-optic Michelson accelerometer based on frequency modulation is demonstrated and a new type of sensing elements designed in this letter. We present a novel DSP architecture for coherent optical receivers that identifies time-domain hybrid modulation formats without any prior knowledge of the received signal. We present a hybrid modulation format recognition method combining Stokes-space analysis/higher-order-statistics, robust in lower OSNR conditions that successfully identifies OOK/BPSK/QPSK/16-QAM.
