Our study shows that cortical activity is enhanced after trauma and the sequence of column activation during stimulus-evoked response altered, i.e. supragranular layer becomes a major input recipient. We speculate these large changes may play key role in auditory hypersensitivity (hyperacusis) can be triggered noise human subjects.

Homeostatic plasticity, the ability of neurons to maintain their averaged activity constant around a set point value, is thought account for central hyperactivity after hearing loss. Here, we investigated putative role GABAergic neurotransmission in this mechanism noise-induced loss larger than 50 dB high frequencies guinea pigs. The effect inhibition linked normal functioning K + -Cl- co-transporter isoform 2 (KCC2) which maintains low intracellular concentration chloride. expression...

An important problem in minimally invasive photoacoustic (PA) imaging of brachytherapy seeds is reflection artifacts caused by the high signal from optical fiber/needle tip reflecting off seed. The presence these confounds interpretation images. In this letter, we demonstrate a recently developed concept called photoacoustic-guided focused ultrasound (PAFUSion) for first time context interstitial illumination PA to identify and remove artifacts. method, (US) transducer on region identified...

Sensory "aftereffects" are a subgroup of sensory illusions that can be defined as an illusory phenomenon triggered after prolonged exposure to given inducer. These phenomena interesting because they provide insights into the mechanisms perception. In auditory modality, there is special interest in so-called "Zwicker tone" (ZT), aftereffect presentation notched noise (NN, broadband with missing frequency band). The ZT has been considered plausible model specific tinnitus subtype since it...

In the auditory modality, noise trauma has often been used to investigate cortical plasticity as it causes cochlear hearing loss. One limitation of these past studies, however, is that effects have mostly documented at granular layer, which main recipient thalamic inputs. Importantly, cortex composed six different layers each having its own pattern connectivity and specific role in sensory processing. The present study aims investigating acute chronic on laminar spontaneous activity (SA)...

Aims: To develop a Graphical User Interface (GUI) system for mobile application to provide secured remote access medical images faster diagnostic and therapeutic use. Settings Design: We have designed an android using the operating system. The is compatible DICOM images. has two layouts with tools such as window scaling, bone edge detection RGB colouring. also database server storing patients were physician can store patient's image taken through one of imaging modality. Methods Material:...

Reflection artifacts caused by the high signal from optical fiber/ needle tip reflecting off seed is an important problem in minimally invasive photoacoustic imaging of brachytherapy seeds. The presence these confounds interpretation images and reduces contrast. We apply a new method called PAFUSion (Photoacoustic-guided focused ultrasound) to identify reduce reflection generated interstitial illumination present system comprising US imager linear array, with provided via cutting needle....
