The recent emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has led society to live with a serious public health problem. In this sense, repositioning antiretrovirals captured the attention scientific community.Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) is an antiretroviral compound that used treat acquired immune deficiency (AIDS) and hepatitis B. In short report, we present scale-up investigation TDF by in situ infrared spectroscopy monitoring forced degradation study...
Dengue, an arboviral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, is a major global public health problem challenge. Insecticides based on natural products can provide good alternative to synthetic agents, as they are safer for both environment and human health. This study evaluated activity of geopropolis from stingless bees Apis mellifera Ae. aegypti, using mass spectrometry approaches identify compounds with larvicidal potential against aegypti. The propolis A. mellifera, well...
In electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), charge formation is proposed to occur as a result of acid-base reactions or coordination with metal cations. However, the increasing number papers have reported radical ions (molecular ions) loss one two electrons. this paper, we present an overview current literature on balance between molecular and protonated forms organic compounds in ESI-MS. Correlations process energy, calculated by orbital methods obtained eletrochemical...
Leishmaniasis is one of the World’s most problematic diseases in developing countries. Traditional medicines to treat leishmaniasis have serious side effects, as well significant parasite resistance problems. In this work, two alkaloids 1 and 2 were obtained from Corydalis govaniana Wall seven 3–9, Erythrina verna. The structures compounds confirmed by mass spectrometry 1D- 2D-NMR spectroscopy. leishmanicidal activity 1–9 against Leishmania amazonensis was tested on promastigote forms...
Abstract This paper reports the chemical evidence of balance between radical molecular ions and protonatedmolecules xanthophylls (an oxygen‐containing carotenoid) with a conjugated π‐system (polyene) oxygen as heteroatom in ESI HRESI mass spectrometry. The ionization energy neutral was calculated by semi‐empirical methods. results were compared those previously published for carotenoids retinoids, which have also been shown ESI‐MS to form M +• [M + H] , respectively. study demonstrates,...
We report here new chemical evidence for the generation of radical molecular ions compounds with a conjugated pi-system (polyene) in ESI and HR-MALDI mass spectrometry. The oxidation potential neutral polyenes was calculated by cyclic-voltammetry results compared those previously published other complex that have also been shown to form M*+ ESI-MS. This study clearly demonstrates correlation between formation studied.
EVALUATION OF THEIR EFFICACY.The skin is a very complex organ, continuously exposed to physical, chemical and microbiological agents.Enzymes as well low-molecular weight antioxidants are present in the cutaneous tissue counterbalance deleterious effect caused by an oxidative stress thus maintain homeostasis.Antioxidants such vitamins C E, carotenoids, extracts with these properties have been extensively used for treatment of pathologies aging prevention. We review here different mechanisms...
Gracilaria domingensis (Kützing) Sonder ex Dickie and birdiae (Plastino & Oliveira) (Gracilariales, Rhodophyta) are seaweeds that occur on the Brazilian coast. Based their economic pharmaceutical importance, we investigated antioxidant activity of methanolic, ethyl acetate hexane extracts both species. The display a high comparative analyses indicated G. as most active Chemical investigation these fractions showed several carotenoids fatty acids, well cholesterol sitosterol derivatives....
This paper reports HPLC-DAD-MS/MS and HPLC-ECD characterisation of secondary metabolite profiles Lychnophora ericoides Mart. leaf extracts from different provenances their cytotoxic antioxidant properties. Leaf populations representing seven locations were evaluated for activity by the DPPH radical scavenging system towards cellular growth in three tumor cell lines. The electrochemically analysed main metabolites identified HPLC-DAD-MS HPLC-DAD-MS/MS. An amplified defensive chemistry,...
Carotenoids are polyene isoprenoids with an important role in photosynthesis and photoprotection. Their characterization biological matrices is a crucial subject for biochemical research. In this work we report the full fragmentation of 16 polyenes (carotenes xanthophylls) by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-CID-MS/MS) nanospray (nanoESI-CID-MS/MS).Analyses were carried out on quadrupole time-of-flight (QTOF) spectrometer coupled nanoESI source Fourier transform ion...
Astaxanthin (ASTA) is a ketocarotenoid found in many marine organisms and that affords benefits to human health. ASTA particularly effective against radical-mediated lipid peroxidation, recent findings hypothesize "mitochondrial-targeted" action of cells. Therefore, we examined the protective effects peroxidation zwitterionic phosphatidylcholine liposomes (PCLs) anionic phosphatidylcholine: phosphatidylglycerol (PCPGLs), at different pHs (6.2 8.0), which were challenged by...
Qualitative and quantitative determination of carotenoids pigments can provide valuable information about the organisms in which this important class compounds is found. In HPLC analysis pigments, diode array (DAD), electrochemical (ED) other kinds detector may be used. The aim work to develop an method using a C30 column identify quantify sixteen different from algae. A further compare precision accuracy obtained by DAD ED. ED normally more sensible than DAD. On hand, highest was with...
RESEARCH INSTITUTES.Ultraviolet radiation is the major exogenous mediators of skin damage. To prevent such damage, sunscreen products are used.New research aims at both elucidation new compounds, as well assets for supporting and synergistic action. In this article it presented a systematic data innovation discussion on prospects partnership between universities enterprises, where believed that innovations in cosmetics, driven by constant demand market products, may be stimulus interactions...
Two mycosporine (MAAs), containing an extra acid function, were analyzed by nanospray and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. In contrast to the previous studies it is demonstrated that no significant characteristic methyl radical loss occurred in positive mode. The fragmentation pathway negative mode was also proposed this work, along with theoretical calculations characterize site of protonation.
Erythrina verna, popularly known as “mulungu”, is a Brazilian medicinal plant used to treat anxiety. alkaloids have been described in several species of Erythrina, which biological and therapeutic properties well that include anxiolytic sedative effects. In this work, vitro metabolism erythraline (1), the major spirocyclic alkaloid was studied pig cecum model by biomimetic phase I reactions. The reactions were performed with Jacobsen catalyst produce oxidative metabolites one metabolite...
