We describe a novel nanostructured target plate for laser desorption/ionization (LDI) mass spectrometry, NALDI (Bruker Daltonics, Billerica, MA) plates. The active surface comprises several layers of inorganic materials that are structured at the nanoscale and then further coated with hydrophobic organic layer facilitates sample deposition LDI performance. These targets have been designed to analyze low (below 1500 Da), relatively polar, molecules they shown be up 10 times more sensitive...
<title>Abstract</title> Background Prior research identified profound sleep disruption in PSP. The hypothalamic and brainstem, areas that help regulate the sleep/wake patterns, are among regions earliest effected. Comparing polysomnography quantitative-neuropathology metrics, we relative sparing of wake promoting nuclei PSP compared to Alzheimer’s disease, though had more disrupted sleep. It led hypothesis patients have hyperinsomina due degeneration with a preservation neurons,...
Abstract Background Modifiable risk factors are important for prevention of age‐related cognitive decline. Prior research has linked both physical activity (PA) and sleep with better memory outcomes. To understand their potential synergistic effects, we examined independent interactive effects actigraphy‐based PA total time on functioning in cognitively unimpaired older adults. Method Participants included 40 adults (age = 71.1 ± 10.8yrs; 52% female; 75% White; mean education 18.2yrs)...
This study aimed to compare objective circadian rest-activity-rhythm (RAR) measures with self-reported behavior and morning-evening preference in cognitively healthy older men women. A total of 129 participants (ages 65-90) completed the Horne & Ostberg Morning-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) Circadian Type Inventory (CTI) assess their traits, including rigidity, vigor, languidness, flexibility. These subjective were compared actigraphy data from a sub-cohort 70 individuals who wore...
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ministry of Health asked Singapore's private general practitioners (GPs) to perform swab testing in their clinics, but some GPs had concerns about swabber protection. Our aim was develop a swabbing booth address these concerns.
A technique to coat three dimensional surfaces with silicon nanowires was used create test devices characterize the adhesion of microspheres a model human intestine end goal increasing bioavailability in drug delivery. Results indicate negligible toxicity and significant improvements over conventional technologies.
Abstract Background During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ministry of Health asked Singapore’s private general practitioners (GPs) to perform swab testing in their clinics, but some GPs had concerns about swabber protection. Our aim was develop a swabbing booth address these concerns. Methods We developed prototype with potential GP users using human-centred design approach and piloted it 10 clinics. The pilot then extended 170 clinics around Singapore. These were surveyed on user satisfaction....
