Spatial information captured from optical remote sensors on board unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has great potential in the automatic surveillance of electrical power infrastructure. For an vision based line inspection system, detecting lines cluttered background important and challenging task. In this paper, we propose a knowledge-based detection method for UAV system. A PCNN filter is developed to remove noise images prior Hough transform being employed detect straight lines. Finally...
In this paper, we investigated the performance of bird species recognition using neural networks with different preprocessing methods and sets features. Context network architecture was designed to embed dynamic nature songs into inputs. We devised a noise reduction algorithm effectively applied it enhance recognition. The context comparatively evaluated linear/mel frequency cepstral coefficients promising experimental results were achieved.
The spike of a cereal plant is the grain-bearing organ whose physical characteristics are proxy measures grain yield. ability to detect and characterise spikes from 2D images plants, such as wheat, therefore provides vital information on tiller number yield potential. We have developed novel detection method for wheat plants involving, firstly, an improved colour index segmentation and, secondly, neural network-based using Laws texture energy detection. step was further by removing noise...
This paper outlines a numerical scheme for accurate, detailed, and high-throughput image analysis of plant roots. In contrast to existing root tools that focus on system-average traits, novel, fully automated robust approach the detailed characterization based graph optimization process is presented. The scheme, firstly, distinguishes primary roots from lateral and, secondly, quantifies broad spectrum traits each identified root. Thirdly, it associates their properties with specific which...
In this paper, we propose an approach that integrates the statistical and structural information for unconstrained handwritten numeral recognition. This uses state-duration adapted transition probability to improve modeling of in conventional HMMs macro-states overcome difficulty pattern structures by HMMs. The proposed method is superior approaches many aspects. models, orientations are encoded into discrete codebooks distributions locations modeled joint Gaussian distribution functions....
This paper presents an evaluation of airborne sensors for use in vegetation management power-line corridors. Three integral stages the process are addressed, including detection trees, relative positioning with respect to nearest power line, and height estimation. Image data, multispectral high resolution, analyzed along LiDAR data captured from fixed-wing aircraft. Ground truth then used establish accuracy reliability each sensor, thus providing a quantitative comparison sensor options....
Enhancing nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of wheat is a major focus for breeding programs. NUE may be improved by identifying genotypes that are competitive (N) uptake in early vegetative stages growth and able to invest N grain. Breeders tend select high yielding under conditions medium supply, but it not known whether this influences the selection root plasticity traits or whether, over time, breeders have selected with higher efficiency. To address this, were from CIMMYT (1966-1985)...
Visual assessment of colour-based traits plays a key role within field-crop breeding programmes, though the process is subjective and time-consuming. Digital image analysis has previously been investigated as an objective alternative to visual for limited number traits, showing suitability slight improvement throughput over assessment. However, easily adoptable, field-based high-throughput methods are still lacking. The aim current study was produce digital imaging pipeline wheat programme....
Ovarian cancer stands out as one of the most formidable adversaries in women’s health, largely due to its typically subtle and nonspecific early symptoms, which pose significant challenges detection diagnosis. Although existing diagnostic methods, such biomarker testing imaging, can help with diagnosis some extent, these methods still have limitations sensitivity accuracy, often leading misdiagnosis or missed cancer’s high heterogeneity complexity increase challenges, especially disease...
This study evaluates an aerial and ground imaging platform for assessment of canopy development in a wheat field. The dependence two traits, height vigour, on fertilizer treatment was observed field trial comprised ten varieties spring wheat. A custom-built mobile (MGP) unmanned vehicle (UAV) were deployed at the experimental site standard red, green blue (RGB) image collection five occasions. Meanwhile, reference measurements vigour manually recorded during growing season. Canopy level...
This paper presents a fuzzy logic controller for an isolated signalized intersection. The controls the traffic light timings and phase sequence to ensure smooth flow of with minimal delay. Usually controllers are optimized maximize flows/minimize delays under typical conditions. Consequentially, these not optimal exceptional cases such as roadblocks road accidents. We propose new that can optimally control flows both normal In this system, sensors placed strategically at incoming outgoing...
In this paper we report on an automated procedure to capture and characterize the detailed structure of a crop canopy by means stereo imaging. We focus attention specifically characteristic height distribution—canopy shoot area as function height—which can provide elaborate picture growth health under given set conditions. apply method wheat field trial involving ten Australian varieties that were subjected two different fertilizer treatments. A novel camera self-calibration approach is...
Leaf senescence, an indicator of plant age and ill health, is important phenotypic trait for the assessment a plant’s response to stress. Manual inspection however, time consuming, inaccurate subjective. In this paper we propose objective evaluation senescence by color image analysis use in high throughput phenotyping pipeline. As platforms are designed capture whole-of-plant features, camera lenses settings inappropriate fine detail. Specifically, colors images may not represent true...
In this study, the authors propose a novel algorithm to estimate heights of objects from monocular aerial images taken mobile platforms such as unmanned vehicles and small airplanes. Sequential captured by single camera mounted on platform contain 3D information objects. use illumination normalisation reduce variations at least two with known distances accurately focal length. We present a technique using Markov models with spectral features for recognizing 2D shapes. analyze the properties of Fourier derived from closed contours shapes and use these pattern recognition. develop algorithms reestimating parameters hidden models. To demonstrate effectiveness our models, we have tested methods on two image databases: hand-tools unconstrained handwritten numerals. are able to achieve high recognition rates 99.4 percent 96.7 without rejection sets data, respectively.
The authors present a novel approach to automatically extract three-dimensional (3D) structures of cereal plants from 2D orthographic images. idea this is use skeletons represent elongated shapes in images and then generate 3D plant skeletons. However, existing skeletonisation algorithms artefacts because boundary extremities noise. Moreover, leaves appear as broken segments leaf twists. In approach, oriented Gaussian filters are used obtain ridges via guided skeletonisation, so that one can...
In this paper we propose a twin mirror-based system for reconstructing 3D models of real plants subsequent phenotypic analysis. The method is based on the visual hull concept: multiple reflections object from mirrors give different views and are interpreted as taken virtual cameras. epipolar geometry its four determined without relying information positions camera mirrors. This alleviates usual calibration step. Two simultaneous images mirror scene ten plant, requiring any plant or movement....

In this study, the authors propose a novel video stabilisation algorithm for mobile platforms with moving objects in scene. The quality of videos obtained from platforms, such as unmanned airborne vehicles, suffers jitter caused by several factors. order to remove undesired jitter, accurate estimation global motion is essential. However, it difficult estimate motions accurately because increased errors and noises. Additionally, large scenes contribute errors. Currently, only very few...
