Abstract High altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) susceptibility is associated with EGLN1 polymorphisms, we hypothesized that HAPE-susceptible (HAPE-S, had HAPE episode in past) subjects may exhibit abnormal HIF1α levels normoxic conditions. We measured HAPE-S and resistant (HAPE-R, no episode) individuals similar functions. Hemodynamic responses were also before after normobaric hypoxia (Fi02 = 0.12 for 30 min duration at sea level) both groups. . was higher (320.3 ± 267.5 vs 58.75 33.88 pg/ml,...

Beetroot juice contains a high level of biologically accessible antioxidants, beneficial phytochemicals and dietary nitrate, which seem to exert effects in human health. Dietary from beetroot has been reported lower blood pressure. However the impact on lipid profile oxidative stress is unknown. In present study, effect supplementation with for 15 days was investigated. Plasma profile, antioxidant status, body composition changes were evaluated at baseline after supplementation. beneficially...

Hematuria and eosinophilia developed in two patients being treated for bacterial endocarditis with 20 or 24 gm/day of cephalexin given orally together probenecid (Benemid). One patient had a concurrent transient increase serum creatinine; both history penicillin allergy previously received intravenously. All abnormalities promptly remitted following discontinuation therapy.
