Our results show the natural production of two olefins, trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene, by various marine macroalgae a microalga. We found significant difference in ability algae to produce these compounds. The rates for varied between 0.022 3,400 ng g ‒1 fresh wt (FW) h were generally higher than those perchloroethylene (0.0026–8.2 FW ). subtropical algae, Asparagopsis taxiformis Falkenbergia hillebrandii , showed highest formation rates. One axenic red microalga, Porphyridium...

Peroxisomes are organelles that crucial for cellular metabolism, but they also play important roles in non-metabolic processes such as signalling, stress response or antiviral defense. To uncover the consequences of peroxisome deficiency, we compared Saccharomyces cerevisiae wild-type with pex3 cells, which lack peroxisomes, employing quantitative proteomics and transcriptomics technologies. Cells were grown on acetate, a carbon source requires peroxisomal enzymes glyoxylate cycle to...

Peroxisomes are ubiquitous cell organelles involved in various metabolic pathways. In order to properly function, several cofactors, substrates and products of peroxisomal enzymes need pass the organellar membrane. So far only a few transporter proteins have been identified. We analysed membrane fractions purified from yeast Hansenula polymorpha by untargeted label-free quantitation mass spectrometry. As expected, known peroxisome-associated were enriched fraction. addition, other enriched,...
