Aims Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumour, mixed connective tissue variant (PMT‐MCT), is a tumour of uncertain differentiation, characterised by ‘smudgy/grungy’ calcification and vitamin D‐resistant phosphaturic osteomalacia. Fibroblast growth factor (FGF)23 recognised as reliable marker PMT‐MCT, but quantitative evaluation has never been performed. We reviewed cases tumour‐associated osteomalacia or histologically definitive PMT‐MCT without using histological, immunohistochemical genetic methods...

Magnesium (Mg) alloy has attracted significant attention as a bioresorbable scaffold for use next-generation stent because of its mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, Mg quickly degrades in the physiological environment. In this study, we investigated whether applying parylene C coating can improve corrosion resistance stent, which is made 'Original ZM10', free aluminum rare earth elements. The exhibited smooth surface with no large cracks, even after balloon expansion...

Be pebble, as a neutron multiplier material, is being explored for the development of Water-Cooled Ceramic Breeder Test Blanket Module (WCCB-TBM) in Japan International Thermonuclear Experiment Reactor (ITER) project. The pebbles were fabricated by rotating electrode process (REP). However, safety test blanket module (TBM) could be compromised hydrogen generation via Be–H2O reaction owing to leakage pressurized water from cooling pipes inside TBM, assessment TBM must conducted using...

ABSTRACT In this study, creases are regularly self‐assembled on the oxidized surface of poly(dimethylsiloxane) by swelling‐induced buckling instability. These then used as templates for regular arrangement crystalline needles. The solution an organic compound is confined in aligned and dried to generate a needle each crease. Thus, orientation needles their two‐dimensional position could be controlled. compounds study anthraquinone 9,10‐dibromoanthracene, among which latter semiconducting...

Measurements of electron density using Stark broadening the H/sub /spl alpha// line are performed to investigate behavior plasma armatures in rail guns with and without an augmenting magnetic field. A permanent magnet a flux 1.25 T was used augment field one railgun. Driving currents 20 25 kA supplied railguns field, respectively, order maintain same peak Lorentz force on projectile. Also gradual temporal increase length armature is observed augmented

Graphene is attracting vast interest due to its superior electronic and mechanical properties. However, structure properties of edge are often neglected, although they important for nanoscale devices because the ratio becomes larger by decreasing device size. In this study, we suggest a way fabricate graphene with atomically aligned zigzag edges applying hydrogen-plasma etching (HPE) technique. By patterning prior HPE, it succeeded shape in desired structure. Both atomic force microscopy...

Abstract Koga, Y., Yamasaki, I., Saito, E.-S., S., Takagi, T., Tachibana, Kido, Y. and Furuse, M. 2003. Comparison of plasma constituents between Japanese quail chickens under fed fasted conditions. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 24: 1–6. Changes in after 24h fasting were compared laying chickens. Plasma levels triacylglycerol greatly decreased during fasting, but no significant differences detected species. free cholesterol, total glucose significantly higher than rapidly by both protein level was...

We summarize the effect of alloying elements in Al alloy reflection films for quadri-layered MO disks. The addition group 4A∼7A transition metal to is most effective improve corrosion resistance and reduce thermal conductivity. It confirmed by practical tests that reliability recording sensitivity disks extremely improved using Al-group films.
