Brachytherapy plays a key role in the treatment of many gynecologic cancers. However, some patients are unable to tolerate brachytherapy for medical or other reasons. For these patients, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) offers an alternative form treatment.Retrospective review prospectively collected on SBRT database is conducted. A total 11 who could not have received their malignancies. Five been candidates interstitial brachytherapy, and six required tandem ovoid brachytherapy....
Key points Central hypercapnic hypoventilation is highly prevalent in children suffering from congenital central syndrome (CCHS). Mutations of the gene for paired‐like homeobox 2b (Phox2b) are aetiologically associated with CCHS and Phox2b present components respiratory chemoreflex, such as nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS). Injection neurotoxin substance P‐saporin into NTS destroys Phox2b‐expressing neurons. Impaired ventilatory response caused by this attributable to a loss CO 2 ‐sensitive...
Dose-volume data concerning the brainstem in stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) were analyzed relation to associated complications. The authors present their set of and compare it with currently cited information on dose tolerance conventional fractionated radiation therapy hypofractionated treatment other diseases.Stereotactic TN delivers a much higher single fraction than doses delivered by any procedures. A literature survey articles revealed no incidences...
The Stereotactic Alignment for Linear Accelerator (S. A. Linac) system is developed to conveniently improve the alignment accuracy of a conventional linac equipped with stereotactic cones. From Winston-Lutz test, SAlinac performs three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction quality assurance (QA) ball coordinates respect radiation isocenter, and combines this information digital images laser target determine absolute position room lasers.A handheld device provides near-real-time repositioning advice...
Object The efficacy and safety of treatment with whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for multiple brain metastases (> 10) are topics ongoing debate. This study presents detailed dosimetric biological information to investigate the possible clinical outcomes these 2 modalities. Methods Five patients (n = 11–23) underwent SRS. Whole-brain plans were retrospectively designed same MR image set structure each patient, using standard opposing lateral beams...
Abstract Purpose Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) has become an important modality in the treatment of brain metastases. The purpose this study is to investigate potential radiomic features from planning magnetic resonance (MR) images and dose maps predict local failure after SRS for Materials/Methods Twenty‐eight patients who received Gamma Knife (GK) metastases were retrospectively reviewed IRB‐approved study. 179 irradiated tumors included 42 that locally failed within one‐year follow‐up....
Purpose: To investigate the dosimetric feasibility of accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) using CyberKnife. Methods: Fourteen previously treated patients with early‐stage cancer were selected for a retrospective study. Six these had been to 38.5 Gy in 10 fractions phase III trial and rest 50.4 28 fractions. In this planning study, guidelines protocol followed organ delineation CyberKnife planning. The achievable parameters from all plans compared Intensity‐modulated radiation...
