Abstract Pectin extracted via hydrodynamic cavitation in water only from waste lemon peel and further isolated freeze drying displays significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus , a Gram positive pathogen which easily contaminates food. The effect of the new IntegroPectin is largely superior to that commercial citrus pectin, opening way advanced applications bioproduct now obtainable large amounts at low cost juice industry's waste.

We investigate selected chemical, technical, and economic aspects of the production fish oil rich in polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids from anchovy filleting leftovers using d-limonene as extraction solvent at ambient temperature pressure. Entirely derived orange peel prior to squeezing for juice production, bio-based is easily recovered, affording a circular economy process with significant potential practical applications.
