A straightforward strategy has been used to construct large BN-embedded π-systems simply from azaacenes. BN heterosuperbenzene derivatives, the largest heteroaromatics date, have synthesized in three steps. The molecules exhibit curved π-surfaces, showing two different conformations which are self-organized into a sandwich structure and further packed π-stacking column. assembled microribbons good charge transport properties photoconductivity, representing an important step toward...

Well-defined polymers derived from biomass feedstock (e.g., soybean oil, rosin acid, and furfural) were successfully prepared by metal-free atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). In the presence of photoredox catalysts UV irradiation, three biomass-based methacrylate monomers efficiently polymerized with good control over molecular weight dispersity. NMR MALDI-TOF MS confirmed high fidelity chain end groups originated initiators. Furthermore, block copolymers these also achieved...

Recently O-carboxyanhydrides (OCAs) have emerged as a class of viable monomers which can undergo ring-opening polymerization (ROP) to prepare poly(α-hydroxyalkanoic acid) with functional groups that are typically difficult achieve by ROP lactones. Organocatalysts for the OCAs, such dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP), may induce undesired epimerization α-carbon atom in polyesters resulting loss isotacticity. Herein, we report use (BDI-IE)Zn(OCH(CH3 )COOCH3 ) ((BDI)Zn-1,...

Abstract Iron and nitrogen co-doped carbon materials (Fe-N-C) have garnered widespread attention owing to their highly active Fe-N4 sites. Here, we proposed a novel approach for synthesizing bimetallic single-atom catalysts by introducing Cu atoms into Fe-N-C. The resultant Fe-Cu-NC catalyst exhibited large specific surface area. Moreover, it had superior half-wave potential of 0.890 V (vs. RHE) in alkaline media. Density functional theory calculations disclosed that the introduction...

A simple template strategy was applied to prepare a Fe, N co-doped hollow carbon (Fe-NHC) nanoreactor for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) by coating Fe nanoparticles (Fe-NPs) with polydopamine (PDA), followed high temperature pyrolysis and acid-leaching. With this method, Fe-NPs were used as both metal precursor, so that nanoreactors can preserve original spherical morphology embed single atoms on inner walls. The carbonized PDA contained abundant content, offering an ideal coordination...
