In this study, we demonstrate the effect of GaN-based blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs), using an InGaN layer inserted between n-type GaN cladding and active (InGaN/GaN multiple quantum well), on improving device performances. With a 20-mA current injection, results indicate that typical output power (or forward voltage) grown with, without, insertion are approximately 18.1 (3.1) 15.3(3.5) mW (V), respectively. This corresponds to enhancement in (wall-plug efficiency) around 18% (33%), with...

Two different types of Gauss lens design, which effectively eliminate primary chromatic aberration, are presented using an efficient genetic algorithm (GA). The current GA has to deal with too many targets in optical global optimization so that the performance is not much improved. Generally speaking, achromatic aberrations have a great relationship variable glass sets for all elements. For optics whose design roughly convergent, will play significant role axial and lateral color aberration....

A fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG)-based optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) network coder/decoder (codec) is investigated for its interference suppression induced by nonflattened broad-band lightwave sources. Since each user with different signature address code has spectral distribution, the light sources will cause (MAI). Flatness compensation schemes are proposed to solve MAI effects By arranging same coding scheme but in band, chips from FBG coder/compensator incoherently power...

This letter proposes a wavelength/spatial optical code-division multiple-access system based on quadratic congruence code matrices (QCCM). According to the in-phase cross-correlation of QCCM, interference can be fully eliminated by using balanced photodetectors (PDs). Moreover, this proposal provides greater signal power than does modified (MQC) coding system. Compared with maximal-area (M-matrices) and MQC system, simulated results indicate that remarkably improve performance in receiver PDs.
