AIM:To clarify the utility of using des-γ-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) and α-fetoprotein (AFP) levels to predict prognosis hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) C (HCV) infections. METHODS:A total 205 HCC (105 HBV infection 100 HCV infection) who underwent primary hepatectomy between January 2004 May 2012 were enrolled retrospectively.Preoperative AFP DCP used create interactive dot diagrams recurrence within 2 years after hepatectomy, cutoff...
Recently, a novel inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase, ONO-1714, was developed. We evaluated the effect ONO-1714 on critical warm I/R model pig liver.Pigs were subjected to 180 min hepatic under extracorporeal circulation. investigated time course changes in serum NO2- + NO3- (NOx), cellular distribution endothelial and thrombocyte-thrombi, nitrotyrosine by immunohistochemistry. The tissue blood flow (HTBF) measured continuously using laser-Doppler flowmeter.ONO-1714 at 0.05 mg/kg...
Living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) between adults inevitably implies two potential risks associated with a small-for-size graft for the recipient and small remnant donor. To overcome these problems, LDLT using dual grafts from independent donors can be solution, in which sufficient volume obtained while preserving safety. We present case of that was managed successfully by right left lobe donors. The large-size male hepatitis C cirrhosis complicated multiple hepatocellular carcinomas...
Situs inversus totalis (SIT) denotes complete right-left inversion of the thoracic and abdominal viscera. Diagnosis surgical procedures for pathology in patients with SIT are technically more complicated because mirror-image transposition visceral organs. Moreover, is commonly associated cardiovascular hepatobiliary malformations, which make hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery difficult. Two cases pancreaticoduodenectomy biliary tract carcinoma presented. Both had an anomaly hepatic artery....
Background. It is still controversial whether a major mode of cell death during hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injuries apoptosis or necrosis. Moreover, the correlation between these deaths and effects novel inducible nitric oxide synthase inhibitor (ONO-1714) has not been studied before. Methods. Pigs were subjected to 180 min warm I/R under extracorporeal circulation. The control group was administered ONO-1714. In ONO-1714 group, 5 before ischemia at dose 0.05 mg/kg through portal...
The prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is affected by tumoral factors and liver functions; therefore it often difficult to select the appropriate therapeutic methods for HCC. Recently, two global phase III trials showed that sorafenib, which a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, improved patients with advanced As new strategy HCC, sorafenib expected expand indication HCC in future. However, alone insufficient molecular-targeted treatment because signaling pathway exists not only cancer cells...
Background The Pringle maneuver is used to minimize blood loss during liver transection; however, it may cause reperfusion injury, which can increased intraoperative lactate levels and an immune compromised state. This further lead infectious complications. Methods Here, we divided 77 patients who underwent hepatectomy between December 2007 August 2010 into two groups: the chronic hepatitis cirrhosis (CH + LC) group normal (NL) group. We investigated effect of highest level on occurrence...
Evaluation of preoperative hepatic reserve is critical to avoid a fatal clinical course such as liver failure. We retrospectively evaluated 158 consecutive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who underwent initial hepatectomy. The aim this study was determine the correlations multiple indicators for assessment function before Furthermore, diagnostic probability pathological background and prediction postoperative failure/dysfunction compared between antithrombin (AT) III level...
ABSTRACT Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) activity is significantly elevated in viral hepatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis, and cholestasis. However, there are few reports on the relationship between iNOS cirrhosis. Here, we investigated effects of a new inhibitor that has been developed for oral administration an experimental rat liver cirrhosis model. A cirrhotic model was by long‐term thioacetamide injections. FR260330 new, rationally designed, selective can be administered orally. After...
We have developed a new technique of the Pringle maneuver by clamping outside abdominal wall for pure laparoscopic liver resection (pure Lap). Our successfully controls bleeding and enables Lap to be completed without any events, even large tumor. Between 2008 2010, we compared consecutive patients who received with (n=11) (n=7) this maneuver. Although tumor size in group was significantly larger than no-Pringle (3.35±1.64 vs. 1.11±0.29 cm, respectively), intraoperative not different...
