A diode-pumped single frequency Tm:YAG laser operating at 2 μm is demonstrated in this letter. The crystal controlled room temperature by using a thermoelectric cooler. Two solid uncoated fused silica etalons are employed to narrow the line-width, thicknesses of which 0.1 mm and 1 mm, respectively. High power diode-pumped continuous wave (CW) and Q-switch operation of Tm,Ho:YVO4 laser is reported. Using two rods in a single cavity, up to 20.2 W CW output lasing at 2054.7 nm was obtained under cryogenic temperature 77 K with an optical conversion efficiency 32.9%. For operation, 19.4 15 kHz pulse repetition frequency (PRF) minimum width 24.2 ns. In addition, different frequencies 10.0 kHz, 12.5 15.0 were investigated comparatively.

High power and high beam quality continuous wave Tm:YLF laser by the dual-end-pumped is presented in this letter. The highest output reaches 21.3 W when totally input pump 54.6 W. optical conversion efficiency 39.0% slope 47.3%. With an F-P etalon cavity, center wavelength tuned to 1908 nm with about 0.5 FWHM. optimal factor M 2 can be ∼ 1.1. We demonstrated a 1.91 μm pumped, injection-seeded Q-switched Ho:YAG laser operating at room temperature. An efficient 2 μm room-temperature Q-switched Ho:GdVO4 laser end-pumped by a 1942 nm Tm-fiber is demonstrated. To our knowledge, this the first report of performance crystal. A maximum CW output power 6.85 W under absorbed pump 24.1 was obtained with slope efficiency 39.5% at temperature 17°C. With same power, energy per pulse about 0.9 mJ and minimum width 4.7 ns were pulsed repetition frequency (PRF) 5 kHz, corresponding to peak approximately 187.2 kW.

A room-temperature diode-end-pumped acousto-optical (AO) Q-switched Tm:GdVO4 laser was firstly reported. The minimum AO Q-switch pulse width measured to be about 48 ns with output power of 2 W and repetition rate 5 kHz. Continuous-wave 2.8 at 1912 nm obtained under the absorbed pump 15 W. An efficient single-frequency laser-diode pumped, continuous wave (CW) ring Nd laser emitting at 1064.4 nm is demonstrated. A composite crystal (Nd:YVO4/YVO4) with undoped ends single end pumped by a fiber-coupled diode (LD) 808 nm. four-mirror cavity deigned to keep the unidirectional operating, which eliminate spatial hole burning in standing-wave cavity. With incident pump power of 31.5 W, obtained output 13.6 slope efficiency 52.6% and an optical 43.2%. At same time, beam quality M2 ∼ 1.1 found.

A high efficient, Q-switch, cryogenic operation of c-cut Tm (5 at.%),Ho(0.3 at.%):YAlO3 (YAP) laser was reported in this paper. In the temperature 77 K, Tm,Ho:YAP crystal double end-pumped by dual 7.25-W fiber-coupled diodes (LDs) at center wavelength 793.3 nm. 2.17-W Q-switch output power acquired pulse repetition frequency (PRF) 10 kHz, corresponding to an optical-optical conversion efficiency 15.0% and a slope 19.4%. The energy per 1.71 mJ 71 ns achieved 1.25 kHz with peak 24.1 kW.

We reported the Ho:YAP laser pumped by Tm-doped fiber with a Bragg grating. The maximum output power was 3.94 W when incident 10.6 threshold of 2.54 W. slope efficiency 49%, corresponding to an optical-to-optical 37.1%. wavelength centered at 2117.9 nm bandwidth about 2 nm.

We report a diode-pumped CW Tm:YLF laser at room temperature with volume Bragg grating (VBG) instead of the conventional mirror. The operated 1909.5 nm output power 6.0 W. optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is 25.7% and slope 37.4%. Also, stable narrow linewidth less than 0.3 FWHM are achieved.

Widely tunable performances of Tm:YAG and Tm:LuAG lasers near 2 μm are demonstrated.
