Extracts of Eurycoma longifolia Jack (Simaroubaceae) have been tested for antiplasmodial activity against a multi-drug resistant Thailand strain (K-1) Plasmodium falciparum in vitro. 10-Hydroxycanthin-6-one, eurycomalactone, eurycomanone and eurycomanol were isolated form the plant. The vitro antimalarial activities these compounds are reported together with that 6-hydroxy-5, 6-dehydroeurycomalactone.

Abstract Background Toxoplasma gondii infection causes toxoplasmosis, an infectious disease with worldwide prevalence. The limited efficiency of drugs against this infection, their side effects and the potential appearance resistant strains make search novel essential need. We examined Eurycoma longifolia root extract fractions as sources new compounds high activity low toxicity. main goal study was to investigate anti- T. crude (TACME) four (TAF 273, TAF 355, 191 401) from E. , clindamycin...

Abstract Copper‐nanoparticle (CuNP)‐filled nanocomposites were prepared with various particle sizes and loadings. The incorporating 20‐nm CuNPs 5 vol % loading displayed optimum properties as determined by electrical, mechanical, thermal characterization. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) a size of 20 nm loaded into the epoxy resin to allow comparison properties. Interestingly, at percolation threshold, CuNP AgNP resulted in slightly similar electrical conductivities 0.01 0.02 S/cm, respectively....

The present study investigated the effects of a standardized methanol extract E. longifolia Jack containing major quassinoid constituents 13alpha(21)-epoxyeurycomanone (1), eurycomanone (2), 13alpha,21-dihydroeurycomanone (3) and eurycomanol (4) on epididymal spermatozoa profile normal Andrographis paniculata induced infertile rats. MeOH at doses 50, 100 200 mg/kg, EtOAc fraction (70 mg/kg), mg/kg co-administered with A. 70 were each given orally to male Sprague-Dawley albino rats for 48...

Quassinoids are a group of diterpenoids found in plants from the Simaroubaceae family. They also major bioactive compounds Eurycoma longifolia which is commonly used as traditional medicine South East Asia to treat various ailments including sexual dysfunction and infertility. These uses attributed its ability improve testosterone level men. Chronic consumption E. extracts has been reported increase men animal model but effect on prostate growth remains unknown. Therefore, present study...

The methanol extract from the leaves of Phyllanthus niruri L. showed oral antihyperuricemic activity in potassium oxonate- and uric acid-induced hyperuricemic rats. Fractionation by resin chromatography led to isolation a less polar fraction which exhibited highest reduction plasma acid. Further antihyperuricemic-guided purification afforded three lignans, phyllanthin (1), hypophyllanthin (2) phyltetralin (3), 1 significantly reversed acid level animals its normal dose-dependent manner,...

A validated HPLC analysis of eurycomanone (1), a bioactive quassinoid, in rat plasma following oral and intravenous administration Eurycoma longifolia Jack extract was developed for pharmacokinetic bioavailability studies. Relatively high concentrations were detected after an injection 10 mg/kg F2 containing 1.96 the quassinoid. However, it declined rapidly to zero 8 h. Its mean elimination rate constant (ke), biological half-life (t1/2), volume distribution (Vd) clearance (CL) 0.88 ± 0.19...
