The BIO14.6 hamster is a widely used model for autosomal recessive cardiomyopathy. These animals die prematurely from progressive myocardial necrosis and heart failure. primary genetic defect leading to the cardiomyopathy still unknown. Recently, linkage map localized locus on chromosome 9qa2.1-b1, excluding several candidate genes. We now demonstrate that results mutation in delta-sarcoglycan gene maps disease locus. This was completely coincident with backcross F2 pedigrees. constitutes...

Depth‐related changes in whole‐community structure were evaluated a coastal marine sediment using molecular fingerprinting method, terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T‐RFLP) analysis, and chemotaxonomic technique (quinone profiling). Dendrograms derived from both T‐RFLP analysis quinone profiling indicated significant variation microbial community between the 0–2 cm layer deeper layers. This corresponded to dramatic change redox potential, acid‐volatile sulphide‐sulphur...

Syndecan-4 is a transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan belonging to the syndecan family. Following intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), syndecan-4-deficient mice exhibited high mortality compared with wild-type controls. Severe endotoxin shock was observed in deficient mice: systolic blood pressure and left ventricular fractional shortening were lower than controls 9 h after LPS injection. Although histological examinations revealed no apparent differences between two...

Abstract Objective. Effective rehabilitation for upper limb paralysis in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage mediated by hemiplegia has not yet been established. We evaluated the effectiveness of functional training using a wearable-type exoskeleton driven bio-electric signals motor function scores and tractography corticospinal tract (CST). Approach. Nine putamen seven thalamus were trained hybrid assistive (HAL) wearable exoskeleton. Among participants, 12 individuals severe hemiplegic,...

The beige rat is an animal model of the Chédiak-Higashi syndrome. Since mast cells can be easily purified from peritoneal cavity rats, we investigated function with giant granules by using quantitative methods. Beige and normal were sensitized anti-dinitrophenol (DNP) IgE antibodies stimulated DNP conjugated human serum albumin. proportion histamine released to total was significantly greater in than cells. supernormal release observed after treatment 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate,...

Zostera marina (eelgrass) is classified as one of the marine angiosperms and widely distributed throughout much Northern Hemisphere. The present study investigated microbial community structure diversity Z. growing in Futtsu bathing water, Chiba prefecture, Japan. purpose this was to provide new insight into colonization eelgrass leaves by communities based on leaf age compare these root-rhizome , surrounding microenvironments (suspended particles, seawater, sediment). composition each...

Seagrass meadows produce organic carbon and deposit it on the seabed through decaying process. Microbial activity is closely related to process of eelgrass death collapse. We investigated microbial community structure during decomposition by using a microcosm containing raw seawater excised leaves collected from Zostera marina bed in Futtsu, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The fast-growing microbes (i.e., Alphaproteobacteria, Gammaproteobacteria, Flavobacteriia) rapidly adhered leaf surface...
