Design, Setting, Participants A 2-round modified Delphi survey was conducted from January 1 July 31, 2021, using an expert panel, including 69 ophthalmologists identified through their membership ophthalmology (globe trauma) societies. Consensus defined as at least 67% agreement. steering...
Genital involvement in porokeratosis (PK) is a rare occurrence even disseminated forms. We encountered three patients who had affecting only the genital area. Two of them were male with penis and scrotum respectively. The lady vulvar hitherto unreported instance confined to female genitalia. None cases very easy diagnose clinically but biopsies proved confirmatory. advised light electrocautery under local anesthesia while patient underwent surgical excision. No malignant change has been...
Objective: This study aimed to assess 30-day morbidity and mortality rates following cholecystectomy for benign gallbladder disease identify the factors associated with complications. Summary Background Data: Although is common disease, there a gap in knowledge of current practice variations on global level. Methods: A prospective, international, observational collaborative cohort consecutive patients undergoing from participating hospitals 57 countries between January 1 June 30, 2022, was...
Dermatophyte infection is a very common disease, but that of the male genitalia said to be rare. Here we report four cases dermatophyte genitalia, which one had lesion on penis alone, lesions and groins, scrotum, other involvement groins. Two patients gave history application steroid-containing preparations another diabetes mellitus. Culture scraping lesional skin yielded Trichophyton rubrum in two Epidermophyton floccosum two. All resolved completely with topical terbinafine or...
Epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa, a genetic mechanobullous disease, is characterized by pruritus, lichenified or nodular prurigo-like lesions, occasional trauma-induced blistering, excoriations, milia, nail dystrophy and albopapuloid appearing at birth later. Scarring prurigo are most prominent on the shins. Treatment unsatisfactory. We report three such cases: two of them first cousins, described with history blisters since childhood, followed intensely pruritic lesions predominantly...
Alagille syndrome, a rare genetic disorder with autosomal dominant transmission, manifests 5 major features: paucity of interlobular bile ducts, characteristic facies, posterior embryotoxon, vertebral defects and peripheral pulmonic stenosis. We report 6-year-old male child who presented history progressive jaundice since infancy, generalized pruritus widespread cutaneous xanthomata. He was also found to have obstructive jaundice, pulmonary stenosis ventricular septal defect ducts in liver...
An 18-year-old woman was referred with late sequelae of chloroquine-induced Steven–Johnson syndrome. At the time presentation, symblepharon involving upper lids to almost whole cornea, and part lower bulbar conjunctiva lid bilaterally. Other ocular examinations were not possible due symblepharon. B-scan ultrasonography revealed acoustically clear vitreous, normal chorioretinal thickness, optic nerve head, an attached retina. Conjunctivo-corneal adhesion released by superficial lamellar...
Cutis laxa is a rare disease that may be either inherited or acquired. The acquired form rarer than the form. Pathogenesis of this largely unknown. Two cases cutis are reported here and neither them had any systemic involvement history drug intake. One localized with preceding cutaneous inflammation. other patient generalized lesion lacked illness. was treated satisfactorily by reconstructive surgery. involvement, for which no satisfactory treatment could offered.
The true existence of naevoid psoriasis and inflammatory linear verrucous naevus as distinct entities has been a debatable issue. Each opined to be variant the other. Considerable clinical histological resemblance is seen between two conditions. We describe three cases which attempt throw more light on this
Thelazia callipaeda or the oriental eye worm infects a wide variety of hosts including dogs, cats, foxes, rabbits, and humans through Drosophila flies. We report here case 42-year-old female who presented with pain, redness, cystic swelling in right lacrimal sac area for 8 months. Ocular examination was within normal limits. Excision biopsy cyst revealed live worm. In humans, is usually found conjunctival sac, canaliculi, leading to disease which can be subclinical symptomatic. Thus, we rare...
Porokeratosis is a specific disorder of keratinization that has five clinical types and shows characteristic 'cornoid lamella' on histopathology. Malignant degeneration been described in all forms porokeratosis. To the best our knowledge, this first Indian report multicentric squamous cell carcinoma complicating
Penetrating orbitocranial injuries can present with foreign body/bodies (FBs) lodged in eye, orbit, and/or brain. But limited literatures are available about FBs partly orbit and intracranially. Here, we a rare case of wooden FB impacted right palpebral aperture extending intracranially following accidental fall from height. Unexpectedly, the patient himself removed fully conscious oriented state while waiting for neurosurgical intervention, later completely recovered under observation...
Purpose To present histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis of idiopathic inflammatory diseases orbit ocular adnexa. Methods: Design- A retrospective laboratory-based study. The study was carried out in an pathology laboratory a tertiary institute northeast India where 93 cases done 5 years, during the period from 2011 to 2016. Hematoxylin--eosin special stains were for diagnoses. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) panel also out. For infectious pathology, Grocott's methenamine silver...
We present the clinical profile of biopsy and immunohistochemistry-proven ocular adnexal lymphomas in Northeast Indian population. Nineteen patients between October 2004 June 2006 with lymphoma were analyzed retrospectively. Histopathological classification was done according to international working formulation. Twelve male seven female. All diagnosed as non-Hodgkin's majority B cell type (89%). Most cases (42%)were treated radiotherapy followed by chemotherapy.
To summarize a new and easy technique of double-J stent (DJ stent) placement after retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy (RLU).RLU for upper half mid ureteric stones was performed successfully in 172 patients during the 8-year period between March 2011 February 2019. In all cases, DJ placed by this technique. A small-bore antral puncture needle is inserted into space to push down with guidewire lower ureter. The tip manipulated bring it near ureterotomy site insertion stent. whole...
Purpose: To present the profile of patients with ocular and adnexal tumours presenting at a tertiary eye care institute in northeast India ten years between 2003 2013.Design: Hospital based retrospective review medical records.Method: The clinical history, site involvement pathological diagnoses were retrieved from pathology registers October 2003-October 2013. This included conjunctival, orbital, intraocular tumours. All specimens fixed, processed stained. Immunohistochemistry was carried...
