We conducted an institutional-based retrospective study on 308 uveitic patients and analyzed the pattern of uveitis in Northeastern India. Anterior was most common type (47.07%) followed by posterior (29.87%), intermediate (12.98%) panuveitis (10.06%). Toxoplasmosis (40.21%) had highest incidence among cases. Harada's form Vogt Koyanagi disease is a frequent occurrence this subset population.
Background: Vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, yellow fever, encephalitis and filariasis are considered serious human health concerns in the field of medical entomology. Controlling population mosquito vectors is one best strategies for combating vector-borne diseases. However, use synthetic insecticides longer periods time increases resistance to insecticides. Recently, search new environmentally friendly efficient has attracted major attention globally. With evolution material...
In Brief Intravitreal gnathostomiasis is a rare disease. To our knowledge, only five case reports are available in the literature wherein parasites were surgically removed from vitreous cavity and species identified. this report, we document clinical features of intravitreal along with route entry parasitic migration pattern ocular tissue, surgical management, electron microscopic retrieved advanced third-stage larva Gnathostoma spinigerum (aL3) for 48-year-old Indian woman excellent...
Uveitis incorporates innumerable conditions, all of which are characterized by inflammation the uveal tract. Study etiological factors in uveitis population often give important disease-specific indications and changing pattern subsequent studies to know further newer occurrences various disease prevalence. Awareness regional variation configuration is essential develop a region specific list differential diagnoses also for comparison with different sub-population country world. We report...
Purpose: To report a case of localized subconjunctival urate crystals in patient with gout. Design: Single observational report. Methods: Case Results: An 80-year-old woman who came for cataract surgery was incidentally found to have crystal deposits near the superior limbus her left eye (OS). She taking medications gout and hypertension. Multiple conjunctival were excised from area before surgery. Light microscopy under polarization revealed crystals, histopathological examination confirmed...
Retinoblastoma usually manifests before five years of age. in an adult is extremely rare. Twenty-three cases retinoblastoma adults 20 or older have been reported world literature. We report a case onset 29-year-old female. Our patient had unilateral endophytic with vitreous seeds and calcification on ultrasonography. She underwent enucleation silicone ball implantation the diagnosis was confirmed histopathologically. The should be kept mind presenting white mass lesion unknown etiology, fundus adult.
An international, expert led consensus initiative was set up by the Collaborative Ocular Tuberculosis Study (COTS) group to develop systematic, evidence, and experience-based recommendations for treatment of ocular TB using a modified Delphi technique process. In first round Delphi, identified clinical scenarios pertinent based on five phenotypes (anterior uveitis, intermediate choroiditis, retinal vasculitis, panuveitis). Using an interactive online questionnaires, guided background...
We report a rare case of late spontaneous extension posterior capsule tear from lateral traction an endocapsular ring, resulting in dislocation the capsular tension ring and acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) into vitreous cavity. A 3-port pars plana vitrectomy was performed to explant prostheses; eye made pseudophakic by placement scleral-fixated chamber IOL. The combined triple procedure safe effective.
Retinoblastoma, the most common primary malignant intraocular tumor of childhood is a great success story in pediatric and ocular oncology. Pathology retinoblastoma important to guide treatment modalities. Differentiated commonly seen younger age group. Since hundred years, we have been observing two typical true rosettes form Flexner-Wintersteiner (FW) Homer Wright (HW) many occasions pseudorosettes documented. In present case report, third new type rosette was identified differentiated...
We report a rare case of anterior chamber live dirofilariasis presenting as uveitis. A 60-year-old man presented with dimness vision in the right eye for 1 month. Vision recorded was 6/18 P, N 18 eye. Slit lamp examination revealed uveitis moving nemathelminthes. The worm removed from under local anesthesia assisted methyl cellulose delivery and post-operatively, examined directly light microscope. Morphometric measurement showed length 6.061 mm. thin, pale, slender diagnosed immature female...
Immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4-related diseases) affects various tissues and organs of the human body. Orbital, adnexal, scleral inflammations were already reported in medical literature. To best our knowledge, we report first case intraocular IgG4-associated inflammatory mass ciliary body mimicking as a melanoma 23-year-old female from Northeast India. Characteristic histopathology, immunohistochemistry tissue, protein chemistry, raised serum IgG4 supportive for diagnosis. As this newly diagnosed...
Aims: To describe liquefied after cataract (LAC) and its surgical management following an uneventful phacoemulsification with posterior chamber in-the-bag intraocular lens (IOL) implantation continuous curvilinear capsulorrhexis (CCC). Design: Interventional case series. Materials Methods: Eleven patients LAC, CCC IOL were enrolled. After the basic slit lamp examination, each was investigated Scheimpflug photography ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). Each treated capsular lavage. Biochemical...
The aim of this study was to assess the clinico-epidemiological profile, etiology, and imaging findings in neonatal stroke (NS).This a retrospective, observational on neonates presenting with between August 2014 July 2016 tertiary care hospital eastern India. In all, 43 were analyzed, male-to-female ratio 2.3:1. About 88% babies born at term rest preterm. In 37%, etiology related hypoxic injury, 21% had sepsis, 35% idiopathic causes. Seizures most common mode presentation (62%) followed by...
To prepare ocular emulsions containing bipartitioned oil droplets to entrap cyclosporin A (0.05% w/w) and etodolac (0.2% by using castor, olive silicon oils.
Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) is a small round cell malignant of origin. Most the PNETs occur in central nervous system (CNS). recognized outside CNS are diagnosed as peripheral PNET (pPNET). This which expresses MIC-2 gene (CD99) seems to be least aggressive after complete resection. We describe rare case young girl.
Purpose: Our study aims to evaluate the morphology, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry of spontaneously late dislocated capsular bag-intraocular lens (CB-IOL) complex. Various etiologies possible pathogenesis event are also discussed. Methods: This was a tertiary-care setting retrospective observational case series. The surgically explanted intact specimens CB-IOL complex were studied. demographics, duration pseudophakia, IOL design/material, specimen measurements noted. Fresh...
Purpose: To study the usefulness of sodium fluorescein dye for staining raw specimens in ophthalmic pathology. Methods: Laboratory-based observational study. Eye received ocular pathology department a tertiary eye care center northeast India were included after obtaining informed consent. The period was from 2016 to 2019. Specimens corneal button, lid, orbital tissues, enucleated eyeballs, eviscerated eye, explanted intraocular lens (IOLs), optic nerve and parasites. Sections gross stained...
