Chitin, an integral component of the fungal cell wall, is one best-studied microbe-associated molecular patterns. Previous work identified a LysM receptor-like kinase (LysM-RLK1/CERK1) as primary chitin receptor in Arabidopsis. In order to identify proteins that interact with CERK1, we conducted yeast two-hybrid screen using intracellular domain CERK1 bait. This 54 putative CERK1-interactors. Screening mutants defective 43 these interacting only two, calmodulin like protein (At3g10190) and...

SUV39H1, the first identified histone lysine methyltransferase in human, is involved chromatin modification and gene regulation. SUV39H1 contains a chromodomain its N-terminus, which potentially plays role methyl-lysine recognition targeting. In this study, structure of human was determined by X-ray crystallography. The displays generally conserved fold compared with other solved chromodomains. However, different from chromodomains, possesses much longer helix at C-terminus. Furthermore,...

The low-cost substrates from food industry, including maize starch hydrolysate and soybean meal hydrolysate, were used to produce docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) by Schizochytrium limacinum OUC88. Glucose derived was as the carbon source nitrogen sources. In 10L bioreactor fermentation, using main source, biomass of OUC88 reached 85.27 g L–1, yields DHA 20.7g L–1. As a comparison, when yeast extract 68.93 L–1 13.3 respectively. From results this study, these hydrolysates can provide all nutrients...

Ammonia-oxidizing Archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing Bacteria (AOB) oxidize ammonia to nitrite, therefore play essential roles in nitrification global nitrogen cycling. To better understand the population structure distribution of AOA AOB deep Eastern Indian Ocean (EIO), nine surface sediment samples (>3,300 m depth) were collected during inter-monsoon Spring 2013. One sample from South China Sea (SCS) (2,510 m) was also included for comparison. The community composition, species richness,...

The assessment of nucleotide polymorphisms in environmental samples obligate pathogens requires DNA amplification through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and bacterial cloning PCR products prior to sequencing. drawback this strategy is that it can give rise false owing misincorporation during or cloning. We investigated patterns polymorphism internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region for Phakopsora pachyrhizi, an biotrophic fungus causes Asian soybean rust. Field-collected P. pachyrhizi...

Manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD) plays a crucial role in antioxidant responses to environmental stress. To determine whether Mn-SOD affects heat resistance of Gracilaria lemaneiformis, we cloned cDNA sequences two strains this red alga, wild type and cultivar 981. Both contained an ORF 675 bp encoding 224 amino acid residues. The the deduced shared relatively high identity (more than 99%). No intron existed genomic DNA G. lemaneiformis. Southern blotting indicated that there were...

ABSTRACT Unstable mutants with similar variegated pigmentation were genetically characterized in the red algae. Gracilaria tikvahiae (McLachlan), G. foliifera (Forsk.) Børg. and. sjoestedtii (Kylin). All three green plants flecks of tissue where cells had reverted to wild type. The mutant phenotypes all recessive, and their genetic behavior crosses indicated that each was result a single, unstable, nuclear gene. Wild‐type revertant stable one it arose. Revertant obtained from spores fronds...

The Cre/loxP site-specific recombination system was applied to Aurantiochytrium limacinum obtain a transformant without the antibiotic resistance marker gene. First, enhanced green fluorescent protein gene (egfp) and chloramphenicol (Cmr), along with two loxP loci, were integrated into genome of A. OUC88 using 18S rDNA sequences as homologous sites. Then plasmid pSH65, containing zeocin (Bler) transferred OUC_CG. After induction galactose, repeated passage in culture PCR-based assessment,...
