The ability to calculate molecular properties such as weights, isoelectric points, and extinction coefficients is vital for scientists using and/or synthesizing peptides peptoids research. A suite of two web utilities: Peptide Calculator Peptoid Calculator, available free at http://www.pep-calc.com , are presented. Both tools allow the calculation peptide/peptoid chemical formulae weight, ChemDraw structure file export automatic assignment mass spectral peaks deletion sequences...

Herein we report a practical synthetic route to the lasso peptide lassomycin () and C-terminal variant lassomycin-amide (). The biological evaluation of peptides against Mycobacterium tuberculosis revealed that neither had any activity this bacterium. This lack has led us propose naturally occurring may actually exhibit standard threaded conformation rather than previously reported unthreaded structure.

Bariatric surgery results in increased intestinal secretion of hormones GLP-1 and anorexigenic PYY, which is believed to contribute the clinical efficacy associated with procedure. This observation raises question whether combination treatment gut hormone analogs might recapitulate mitigate significant risks surgery. Despite PYY demonstrating excellent safety profiles regard food intake reduction, weight loss, glucose control preclinical animal models, PYY-based therapeutic development...

Anorexigenic peptides offer promise as potential therapies targeting the escalating global obesity epidemic. Prolactin-releasing peptide (PrRP), a novel member of RFamide family secreted by hypothalamus, shows therapeutic decreasing food intake and body weight in rodent models via GPR10 activation. Here we describe design long-acting PrRP using our recently developed multiple ethylene glycol-fatty acid (MEG-FA) stapling platform. By incorporating serum albumin binding fatty acids onto...

Polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) is a major serine/threonine protein which regulates key mitotic events such as centrosome duplication, spindle assembly and chromosome separation. Overexpression aberrant activities of Plk1 can be detected in different types cancer. Given that the unique polo box domain (PBD) pocket provides an excellent drug target for binding inhibition, we have rationally designed multifunctional lanthanide-doped upconversion nanomaterials. NaGdF4:Yb3+, Er3+ (NaGdF4) BaGdF5:Yb3+,...

Abstract In this work, the shape effect of our same‐sized hybrid nanomaterials conjugated with two different Plk1‐specific peptides had been investigated in terms their photophysical properties, cellular uptake efficiencies, and selective inhibitory effects towards cancer normal cells. The results clearly indicate that spherical NaGdF 4 @SiO 2 ‐P 1 nanoparticles achieve best performance for vitro imaging, G2 phase cell arrest, and, hence, cycle inhibition.

Owing to their pleiotropic metabolic benefits, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists have been successfully utilized for treating diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. As part of our efforts in developing long-acting peptide therapeutics, we previously reported a engineering strategy that combines side chain stapling with covalent integration serum protein-binding motif single step. Herein, used this develop second generation extendin-4 analog rigidified symmetrical...
