본 연구는 쇼핑과정에서 소비자의 쾌락적 소비성향과 충동적 구매성향 그리고 소비자가 느끼는 긍정적인 감정이 의류제품의 충동구매행동에 미치는 영향에 대하여 살펴보고자 하였다. 미국 남서부지역 대학에 재학 중인 290명의 대학생들에게 선행연구결과로부터 개발한 질문지를 배포하여 자료를 수집하였다. 구매성향, 감정, 의류제품 충동구매행동간의 관계를 살펴보기 위하여 상관관계 매트릭스를 이용한 구조방정식 모델을 제안하여 검증하였다. 분석결과, 충동구매행동은 계획적 충동구매, 상기된 패션지향적 충동구매로 유형화되었으며 구매성향은 쇼핑과정 중에 감정에 영향을 미쳤고 소비자 성향들에 받은 쇼핑감정은 여러 유형의 직접적인 미쳤다. 즉, 소비자들의 소비자들이 경험하는 긍정적 감정을 통해 충동구매행동을 유발한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구에서는 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 의류제품에 관련된 리테일러들에게 제시해 줄 있는 마케팅적인 제언들을 논의하였다.
