Abstract Ubiquitin modification of the TGF-β pathway components is emerging as a key mechanism regulation. To limit responses, signaling regulated through negative feedback loop whereby E3 ligase SMURF2 targets receptor (TβR) complex for ubiquitin-mediated degradation. Counteracting this process, number deubiquitinating (DUBs) enzymes have recently been identified that deubiquitinate and stabilize TβR. However precise by which these DUBs act on TβR function remains poorly defined. Here, we...

To determine the effect of labour on free oxygen radical activity in fetus, as reflected by lipid peroxide levels umbilical cord arterial blood.Prospective, observational study.Department Obstetrics and Gynaecology, The Chinese University Hong Kong.Umbilical venous blood samples were collected from singleton term infants delivered elective caesarean section. Base excess, PO2, pCO2 pH measured both compared to identify double samples. Cord acid-base balance concentrations organic...

<h3>Aim</h3> To explore the antiangiogenic property of isoliquiritigenin (ISL) on in vivo and vitro models. <h3>Design</h3> Laboratory investigation. <h3>Methods</h3> The effect ISL angiogenesis development was investigated using ex ovo chick chorioallantoic membrane model. Its pathological examined by (1) silver nitrate cauterisation-induced corneal neovascularisation BALB/c mice, followed topical (0.2–50 μM) CD31 immunofluorescence blood vessels; (2) argon laser photocoagulation-induced...

Purpose Pterygium is a wing shaped fibrovascular growth on the ocular surface, characterized by fibrosis, angiogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, and inflammatory infiltrates. Epidemiologic studies have linked pterygium formation to various chronic conditions, such as ultraviolet radiation, sawdust exposure, dry eye disease. The purpose of this study identify proteins that are differentially expressed in primary using combination gene microarray proteomic platforms. Methods Paired...

<ns4:p><ns4:italic><ns4:bold>Background</ns4:bold>: </ns4:italic>A challenge of metabolomics is data processing the enormous amount information generated by sophisticated analytical techniques. The raw an untargeted metabolomic experiment are composited with unwanted biological and technical variations that confound interest. art normalisation to offset these and/or eliminate experimental or biases has made significant progress recently. However, published comparative studies often biased...

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is associated with an increased risk cesarean section and adverse fetal outcomes. Currently, ICP diagnosis depends largely on serum levels bile acids lacks sensitivity specificity for accurate diagnosis. Tongue important diagnostic tool in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) used our clinic as complementary treatment personalized ICP. However, the molecular basis manifestation greasy white tongue coatings remains unknown. In this study, we performed...

Abstract Eighty children who had myringotomy performed for otitis media with effusion in 1984 were reviewed 1994. This involved surgery on 158 ears. Three aspects of ear condition studied: hearing loss, tympanic membrane perforation, and tympanosclerosis. Hearing losses present 13 ears (8.2 per cent), involving 10 (12.5 although under 20 dB seven these (five patients). Of the six more than (3.8 five patients bilateral 30 due to a recurrence effusions, large dry posterior perforation was...

Marine Thaumarchaeota (formerly known as the marine group I archaea) have received much research interest in recent years since these chemolithoautotrophic organisms are abundant subsurface ocean and oxidize ammonium to nitrite, which makes them a major contributor carbon nitrogen cycles. However, few studies investigated chemical composition of their exometabolome contributions pool dissolved organic matter (DOM) seawater. This study exploits advances ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS)...

Archaea are differentiated from the other two domains of life by their biomolecular characteristics. One such characteristic is unique structure and composition lipids. Characterization whole set lipids in a biological system (the lipidome) remains technologically challenging. This because lipidome innately complex, not all lipid species extractable, separable, or ionizable single analytical method. Furthermore, structurally chemically diverse. Many isobaric isomeric often indistinguishable...

The OMNI surgical system allows for 360° canaloplasty and trabeculotomy patients with glaucoma, either as a standalone procedure or in combination cataract surgery. There is currently limited evidence on its use forms of angle-closure though other microinvasive glaucoma surgeries have been used. We present three angle closure who underwent the procedure.
