症例は69歳女性，便潜血陽性で施行した下部消化管内視鏡検査で上行結腸癌を指摘された．入院前日にスクリーニング目的に鼻咽頭より採取したSARS-CoV-2 RNAのRT-PCR検査が陽性であったため手術は延期した．無症状で胸部CTに肺炎像もなく自宅待機となった．陽性判明８日後に所管保健所の指示で他院に入院した．中等症ⅠのCOVID-19肺炎の診断でレムデシビルと抗凝固療法による治療を受け，重症化することなく退院となった（陽性判明８日後〜14日後）．退院時を含み１週間ごとに３回のPCR検査を行い３回目（陽性判明26日後）で陰性を確認し，同日に胸部CTで肺炎像のないことを確認した．PCR検査陰性を確認した２日後に（陽性判明28日後），腹腔鏡下結腸右半切除術を施行した．術後経過は良好で，肺合併症もなく術後８日目に退院となった．入院治療に関わったスタッフにCOVID-19感染を疑う症状は認めなかった．
