The scale-up of the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) process for grape (Vitis vinifera L.) seed was studied from laboratory (0.29 L) to pilot scale (5.15 at 35 MPa and 313 K. criterion adopted consisted maintaining a constant solvent feed ratio (S/F), successfully used predict approximate behavior SFE 17-fold scale-up. Linoleic acid major component extract; palmitic, stearic oleic acids were also detected. economic evaluation showed that it is viable establish plant in Brazil processing...

Many scale-up criteria for supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) can be found in literature. However, the studies are often divergent and inconclusive; therefore, more on this field needed. The objective of present work was to study SFE process focusing application Brazilian raw materials. A laboratory scale equipment (290 mL vessel) a pilot (5.15 L were used clove sugarcane residue. criterion adopted consisted maintaining solvent mass feed ratio constant. successfully 15-fold overall curves...

Due to the potential for health benefits, importance of carotenoids is growing. Since this group compounds used in medical as well food and cosmetic applications, a review current sources undertaken. A literature survey presented related methods currently extraction from plants: low-pressure solvent by different techniques supercritical fluid extraction. The process parameters their influence on yield are considered. cost manufacturing carotenoids-rich extracts also discussed. Keywords:...

In this study, the extraction kinetics of pink pepper (Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi) using supercritical CO2 were investigated. S. is an important fruit tree that native to Brazil. Owing its medicinal properties, plant demonstrates potential for commercial use. However, date, compounds from SFE has been investigated in few studies, and no reports have found on kinetic models raw material. A design experiments was developed evaluate influences temperature pressure kinetics. The Tan Liou,...

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to study the economical viability supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) oil and carotenoids from three Amazonian palm trees: buriti, pupunha pressed fiber (PPF). Literature experimental SFE data were used estimate cost manufacturing (COM) oils present in crops, considering five main costs: fixed investment, operational labor, utilities, waste treatment raw material. at 40C/300 bar, 50C/250 bar 45C/300 presented lowest COM for PPF oils, respectively....

Background: Blue is a color not often present in food. Even so, it especially attractive to children. Today, most blue coloring agents used by the food industry are synthetic. With increasing health issues concern scientific community and general population, there trend look for natural alternatives synthetic products. There only exist few colorants, which presented literature survey, along with methods currently their recovery from sources. The best extraction process parameters of...

Foeniculum vulgare (fennel) and Pimpinella anisum (anise) extracts were obtained by Soxhlet, cold percolation, ultrasound assisted extraction, centrifugal extraction using ethanol as solvent; anise also steam distillation. Soxhlet presented the highest yields for both fennel seed (16.8% 23.3%, respectively). The anethole content among ethanolic was (6.8 mg/g 143 extracts, Steam distillation low yield (0.26%), but high (68–98%, area). Anise tested positive flavonoids.

In this work, four residual biomasses from the food industry (coconut husk, defatted grape seeds, sugar cane bagasse, and pressed palm fiber) were subjected to subcritical water hydrolysis assisted by CO2 (SubWH + CO2) with objective of producing fermentable sugars. Hydrolysis kinetics determined using a semi-batch unit equipped 50 mL reactor. The process was conducted at 250 °C for 30 min under 20 MPa. Total reducing sugars recovered SubWH (wet basis): 13.5% coconut 10% 13.2% 11.2% fiber....
