Bystander effects can be induced through cellular communication between irradiated cells and non-irradiated cells. The signals that mediate this communication, such as cytokines, reactive oxygen species, nitric oxide even microRNAs, transferred via gap junctions or extracellular medium. We have previously reported miR-21, a well described DDR (DNA damage response) microRNA, is involved in radiation-induced bystander medium-mediated way. However, the mechanisms of microRNA transfer not been...

Glutamine metabolism provides energy to tumor cells and also produces reactive oxygen species (ROS). Excessive accumulation of ROS can damage mitochondria eventually lead cell death. xCT (SLC7A11) is responsible for the synthesis glutathione in order neutralize ROS. In addition, mitophagy remove damaged keep alive. Ionizing radiation kills by causing ROS, which subsequently induces nuclear DNA damage. With this mind, we explored mechanism intracellular induced ionizing hypothesized new...

It is well documented that microgravity in space environment leads to bone loss astronauts. These physiological changes have also been validated by human and animal studies modeled cell-based analogs. However, the underlying mechanisms are elusive. In current study, we identified a novel phenomenon primary cilia (key sensors functioning organelles) of rat calvarial osteoblasts (ROBs) gradually shrank disappeared almost completely after exposure simulated generated random positioning machine...

Exposure to ionizing radiation from nuclear devices, spaceflights or terrorist attacks represents a major threat human health and public security. After radiological incident, noninvasive biomarkers that can facilitate rapid assessment of exposure risk in the early stages are urgently needed for optimal medical treatment. Serum microRNAs (miRNAs) ideal because they stable response environmental changes, common among different species easily collected. Here, we performed miRNA PCR arrays...

Three highly modified cembranoids, quorumolides A–C (1–3), were isolated from Euphorbia antiquorum. Compound 1 is the first example of a cembranoid embedding an α,β-unsaturated-γ-lactone and tetrahydro-2H-pyran motif within 14-membered ring. Biosynthetically, it particularly noteworthy that stereochemistries C-2 C-12 in pyran ring 1–3 opposite to those marine-derived rare cembranoids.

Nine new cycloartane triterpenoids (1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 12, 15, 17, and 18) two rare tetraterpenoids (24 25) formed via a [4 + 2] Diels–Alder cycloaddition between lanostane triterpenoid monoterpenoid, along with 14 previously known triterpenoids, were isolated from the bark of branches Abies chensiensis. The structures absolute configurations compounds elucidated based on spectroscopic data, X-ray diffraction analysis, electronic circular dichroism. Some isolates evaluated for their...

Abstract Breast cancer is a major threat to women’s health and estrogen receptor-positive (ER + ) breast exhibits the highest incidence among these cancers. As primary estrogen, estradiol strongly promotes cellular proliferation radiotherapy, as standard treatment, exerts an excellent therapeutic effect on ER cancer. Therefore, we herein wished explore mechanism(s) underlying inhibitory effects of radiation cells. We used cell lines MCF7 T47D, their complementary tamoxifen-resistant in our...

Abstract Many studies have indicated that tumor growth factor‐beta (TGF‐β) signaling mediates radiation‐induced bystander effects (RIBEs). The primary cilium (PC) coordinates several pathways including TGF‐β to regulate diverse cellular processes. But whether the PC participates in induced RIBEs remains unclear. levels of TGF‐β1 were detected by western blot analysis and secretion was measured ELISA kit. ciliogenesis altered CytoD treatment, STIL siRNA transfection, IFT88 or KIF3a...

Exposure to ionizing radiation is a major threat human health and public security. Since the inherent limitations of current methods for indicating exposure, new minimally invasive biomarkers that can be easily quickly detected at an early stage are needed optimal medical treatment. Serum proteins attractive some radiosensitive have been found, but in response low-dose high-linear energy transfer (LET) not reported. The effective and minimally invasive radiation biomarkers are valuable for exposure scenarios in nuclear accidents or space missions. Recent studies have opened the new sight of circulating small non-coding RNA (sncRNA) as biomarkers. tRNA-derived (tsRNA) is a class sncRNA.
