This is the first description of a Trypanosoma vivax outbreak in state São Paulo (municipality Lins). Fever, jaundice, decreased milk production, weight loss, profuse diarrhea, abortion, anemia, leukocytosis and hyperfibrinogenemia were observed affected animals. Thirty-one cows calves died out total 1080 herd. Three showed neurological symptoms like dysmetria, ataxia, muscle weakness, ptyalism, lymph node enlargement submandibular edema. Flagellated hemoparasites blood smears. The species...

ABSTRACT Bartonella spp. comprise an ecologically successful group of microorganisms that infect erythrocytes and have adapted to different hosts, which include a wide range mammals, besides humans. Rodents are reservoirs about two-thirds described date; some them been implicated as causative agents human diseases. In our study, we performed molecular phylogenetic analyses infecting wild rodents from five Brazilian biomes. order characterize the genetic diversity spp., robust analysis based...

Abstract Infections by Trypanosoma vivax cause great losses to livestock in Africa and Central South Americas. Outbreaks due this parasite have been occurred with increasing frequency Brazil. Knowledge of changes caused byT. during the course disease can be diagnostic value. Thus, clinical signs, parasitemia, hematologic biochemical cattle experimentally infected hemoparasite were evaluated. Two distinct phases verified infection – an acute phase where circulating parasites seen then a...

Abstract Trypanosomiasis caused by Trypanosoma vivax has increased the reports in Brazil last decade. An outbreak is herein first reported state of Goiás, from May 2016 to January 2017. The start occurred city Ipameri (Goiás) after introduction 18 auctioned cows Minas Gerais. Direct parasitological test (blood smears) and polymerase chain reactions targeting catL genes diagnosed T. infection. Fifty six a herd 161 were infected; 12 died during 44 animals persistently positive (by blood even...

Abstract Livestock infections by Trypanosoma vivax have been occurring with increasing frequency, mainly due to the presence of animals subclinical and without apparent parasitaemia, making diagnosis challenging. The aim present study was evaluate several techniques used for T. in order assess best way using them during course disease. Molecular methods demonstrated higher rates detection than parasitological methods, detecting 33 54 (61.1%) known positive samples, while hematocrit...

The transplacental transmission is the primary route of Neospora caninum infection in bovine herds around world. This study aimed to determine frequency parasite dairy cattle Agreste region Pernambuco through serological tests (IFAT and ELISA). Three hundred sixteen serum samples from cows heifers their offspring were analyzed. rate was 72.22% (13/18) for 69.23% (9/13) by IFAT. ELISA test showed 43.58% (17/39) 50% (9/18) heifers. rates similar, both groups test, but a higher seropositivity...

Abstract Trypanosoma vivax infections cause nonspecific clinical signs in cattle associated with aparasitemic intervals, making disease diagnosis a challenge. In Brazil, diminazene aceturate and isometamidium chloride (ISM) are available to treat bovine trypanosomosis. The objective of this study was follow-up, by molecular serological techniques, dairy naturally infected T. after ISM treatment. Thirty received two applications ISM, at dosage 1.0 mg/kg intramuscularly, on days 0 150. For...
