Four distinct meteorological regimes in the Amazon basin have been examined to distinguish contributions from boundary layer aerosol and convective available potential energy (CAPE) continental cloud structure electrification. The lack of distinction electrical parameters (peak flash rate, lightning yield per unit rainfall) between aerosol‐rich October aerosol‐poor November premonsoon regime casts doubt on a primary role for enhancing Evidence substantial suppressing warm rain coalescence is...

The aim of the present study was to compare direct detection methods Ehrlichia canis (blood smears and nested PCR), serological tests (Dot-ELISA Immunofluorescent Antibody Test - IFAT), demonstrate most suitable test for diagnosis different stages infection. Blood samples clinical data were collected from 30 dogs examined at Veterinary Teaching Hospital, UNESP, Jaboticabal, SP, Brazil. signs frequently observed apathy, anorexia, pale mucous membrane, fever, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly,...

This is the first description of a Trypanosoma vivax outbreak in state São Paulo (municipality Lins). Fever, jaundice, decreased milk production, weight loss, profuse diarrhea, abortion, anemia, leukocytosis and hyperfibrinogenemia were observed affected animals. Thirty-one cows calves died out total 1080 herd. Three showed neurological symptoms like dysmetria, ataxia, muscle weakness, ptyalism, lymph node enlargement submandibular edema. Flagellated hemoparasites blood smears. The species...

In order to investigate new hosts for Anaplasmataceae agents in Brazil, we collected blood samples from 21 wild birds. Using molecular techniques, detected the presence of Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, and an species closely related canis carnivorous avian samples. addition, found felines Brazil was also a goose sample. Wild birds may play role as carriers Brazil.

ABSTRACT Bartonella spp. comprise an ecologically successful group of microorganisms that infect erythrocytes and have adapted to different hosts, which include a wide range mammals, besides humans. Rodents are reservoirs about two-thirds described date; some them been implicated as causative agents human diseases. In our study, we performed molecular phylogenetic analyses infecting wild rodents from five Brazilian biomes. order characterize the genetic diversity spp., robust analysis based...

Ehrlichioses, caused by Ehrlichia species, are tick-borne diseases (TBDs) that affect animals and humans worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the molecular occurrence of spp. in 530 (155 Dromedary camels, 199 goats, 131 cattle, 45 sheep) Benadir Lower Shabelle regions Somalia. Blood DNA samples were tested for PCR targeting dsb sodB genes PCS20 map1 E. ruminantium. The obtained sequences submitted phylogenetic analyses. detected 26.4% (140/530) dsb-PCR, with highest prevalence...

Domestic and wild felids are frequently parasitized by apicomplexan protozoa in the genus Cytauxzoon. Expanding species diversity has recently been described within this genus, with potential implications for epidemiology pathogenesis. In light of these findings, study assessed genetic Cytauxzoon spp. (n = 66) from different eco-regions Brazil Argentina. Of 66 blood samples analyzed, 53 (80.3%) were 18S rRNA gene PCR-positive spp., including 43 jaguars (Panthera onca) 10 ocelots (Leopardus...

Bats and their ectoparasites play a crucial role in understanding the ecology transmission of vector-borne pathogens, yet these dynamics remain poorly studied Portugal. Cytauxzoon spp. DNA was detected for the first time in blood samples from asymptomatic Brazilian wild captive felids. In 2006, 72 EDTA seven felids species: Puma concolor (puma), Leopardus pardalis (ocelot), yagouaroundi (jaguarundi), wiedii (margay), tigrinus (little spotted cat), Oncifelis colocolo (pampas cat) and Panthera onca (jaguar) were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction to amplify 18S rRNA gene segment order verify presence of DNA.
