In our search for quorum-sensing (QS) disrupting molecules, 75 fungal isolates were recovered from reef organisms (endophytes), saline lakes and mangrove rhizosphere. Their QS inhibitory activity was evaluated in Chromobacterium violaceum CVO26. Four strains of endophytic fungi stood out their potent at concentrations 500 to 50 μg mL−1. The molecular characterization, based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region sequences (ITS1, 5.8S ITS2) between rRNA 18S 28S, identified these as...

Background. The central zone of Veracruz state in Mexico, includes areas cloud forest which some microbial interactions such as insect-associated fungi can be found, like Isaria, Paraisaria, Ophiocordyceps, Paecilomyces and Cordyceps genera. Objective. To isolate entomopathogenic from the and determine their antioxidant...
Abstract In this work, the experimental and theoretical study on primary secondary antioxidant activities of three hydroxy‐4‐methylcoumarins were carried out. According to results obtained in TEAC test employing ABTS, DPPH galvinoxyl radicals, coumarin with most important radical scavenging activity was 7,8‐dihydroxy‐4‐methylcoumarin (HMD), even observing a greater than that demonstrated by Trolox antioxidant. The capability shown HMD has good lipid media when compared other molecules known...
It is well known that marine fungi are an excellent source of biologically active secondary metabolites, and by 2011, it was reported over 400 bioactive metabolites were derived from fungi. This study establishes the basis for future research on antiproliferative compounds endophytes inhabited in Veracruz Reef System.Isolation 34 fungal strains carried out microbiological method samples sponges, corals, other biological material System. The biomass broth separated extracted with a mixture...
Marine fungi are considered as a promising source of pharmacologically important extracts and compounds owing to the new chemical structures that they can synthesize due environmental conditions their habitat. The aim this work is evaluate free radical scavenging capacity methanolic from marine relationship total phenolic content. For this, tests ABTS, DPPH, Galvinoxyl were used, comparing these results with antioxidant Trolox reference. phenol content was quantified using Folin-Ciocalteu...
In this paper the isolation and structure analysis of three sterols brefeldin-A from mycelial extract liquid fermentation fungus Curvularia trifolii isolated marine sponge Amphimedon compressa collected Coral Reef System Veracruz is reported. This first report on production by C. trifolii. The results biological activity support importance conservation Mexican ecosystems coral reefs as a source microorganisms with pharmaceutical potential.

Background. Mangrove ecosystems in oil-producing areas the south of Veracruz, Mexico are permanently threatened by oil spill contamination. In this context, Rhizophora mangle and microbiota associated with its rhizosphere have adapted over time to processes bioremediation natural attenuation petroleum hydrocarbons. Objective. To evaluate hydrocarbonoclastic potential filamentous fungi...
ABSTRACT The photosensitizer mechanism by the psoralen (PSO) reacts to produce reactive oxygen species has not been thoroughly studied; thus, this work was carried out a study of reaction and involved in activity PSO, employing M06‐2X/6‐311++G(d,p) density functional theory. There is competition between generation radical anion superoxide (type I mechanism) singlet molecule II lipid media; therefore, ROS could be formed as products PSO media. In aqueous media, only attributed type mechanism;...
Coral reefs are ecosystems with great biodiversity and architectural complexity. Among these, marine fungi constitute one of the least studied groups, despite being potentially an inexhaustible source bioactive metabolites. For this reason, in research, we evaluate antiproliferative activity 52 fungal strains associated organisms such as algae coral collected from four islands located National Park Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano, Mexico. One hundred chloroform:methanol extracts corresponding...
