Epsilon toxin produced by Clostridium perfringens types B and D causes enterotoxemia in sheep, goats calves.Enterotoxemia can cause acute or superacute disease, with sudden death of the affected animal. It provokes huge economic losses when large numbers livestock are affected.Therapeutic intervention is challenging, because disease progresses very rapidly. However, it be prevented immunization specific immunogenic vaccines. We cloned etx gene, encoding epsilon toxin, into vector pET-11a;...
Leishmania nested PCR (LnPCR) targeted to the SSUrRNA gene and DNA sequencing were used analyze 315 tissue samples from 80 Rattus norvegicus specimens trapped in an area endemic for leishmaniasis Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Of analyzed, 17.46% (55/315) of all tissues, 10% (8/80) skin, 26.92% (21/78) blood, 30.76% (24/78) bone marrow 2.53% (2/79) spleen positive Leishmania. The overall infection prevalence was 36.25% (29/80) showed that 65.51% (19/29) animals infected by parasites...
Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is a retrovirus that causes lymphoma in cattle worldwide and has also been associated with breast cancer humans. The mechanism of BLV infection humans its implication as primary cause women are not known yet. may be caused by the consumption milk milk-products or meat from infected animals. Breast incidence rates Brazil high, corresponding to 29.5% year cases among women. In 2020, an estimated 66,280 new expected, whereas 2018 led 17,572 deaths, highest lethality...
Background Influenza A viruses circulating in pigs Brazil are still not characterized, and only limited data available about swine influenza epidemiology the country. Therefore, we characterized hemagglutinin ( HA ) neuraminidase NA genes of isolated from Brazilian pigs. We also evaluated one case probable swine‐to‐human transmission. Methods Twenty during 2009–2010 five states (Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso) were used. One human isolate, a technician who...
Analysis of the partial bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) env gp51 gene sequences obtained from three BLV strains isolated in different regions Brazil was carried out. The Brazilian were compared with seven other corresponding countries and consensus sequence as well. data point on qualitative quantitative differences among analysed far occurrence single mutations is concerned. Two show significantly higher mutation rate than strains. Amino acid analysis did not show, however, any substantial...

The aim work was to detect serum antibodies specific viruses Serum samples 355 pigs from 17 herds Minas Gerais state were tested by hemagglutination inhibition (HI) for against H1N1 (SIV) human viruses, H3N2 SIV. HI revealed that 158 animals (44·5%) 11 (64·7%) positive SIV, 36 (10·1%) four (23·5%) 136 (38·3%) 10 (58·8%) human. This study...
Abstract We investigated possible vaccinia virus (VACV) in urban house cats Brazil. Serum samples from 6 were positive for VACV by PCR, indicating likely circulation among areas of This finding highlights the importance epidemiologic surveillance to avoid outbreaks human populations.
We compared three different protocols for DNA extraction from horse peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and lung fragments, determining average final concentration, purity, percentage of PCR amplification using β-actin, cost.Thirtyfour samples PBMC, 33 fragments were submitted to by protocols.Protocol A consisted a phenol-chloroform isoamylic alcohol extraction, Protocol B used alkaline with NaOH, C the DNAzol ® reagent kit.Protocol was best option producing high concentrations,...
Suid herpesvirus 1 (SuHV-1) is the causative agent of pseudorabies (PR), a disease great importance due to huge losses it causes in swine industry. The aim this study was determine method for genotyping SuHV-1 based on partial sequences gene coding glycoprotein C (gC) and elucidate possible reasons variability region. A total 109 gCsequences collected from GenBank were divided into five major groups after reconstruction phylogenetic tree by Bayesian inference. analysis showed that portion gC...
For the definitive diagnosis of bovine tuberculosis, isolation etiologic agent is required. However, there no consensus on best methodology for Mycobacterium bovis in Brazil. This study evaluated most used decontaminants and culture media country, order to identify combination Brazilian samples. Three - 2% sodium hydroxide (w/v), 0.75% hexadecylpiridinium chloride (w/v) 5% sulphuric acid (v/v) four 7H11 Middlebrook with additives OADC supplement "A" (7H11 A), same another trademark B),...
Abstract Background The allergic test of mallein is one the most frequently used tests, together with Complement Fixation Test (CFT), for diagnosis glanders in endemic areas. Mallein, a purified protein derivative (PPD), produced similarly to PPD tuberculin and end product primarily proteic antigen, which only poorly purified. immuno-allergic activity believed be due high molecular weight group proteins present antigen. To improve quality terms sensitivity specificity, new method production...
