Total lymphocyte count (TLC) has been recommended as a substitute for CD4 cell the management of HIV-infected individuals living in resource-limited settings. To confirm this, 151 TLCs and counts were obtained from 109 patients who had not yet started treatment analyzed. <200 cells/mm3 found 42 cases (37.8%) with > or =1200 cells/mm3. Thus, 1 3 would have deprived needed treatment. Therefore, this setting, TLC is reliable predictor individuals.

AbstractKhaya grandifoliola (Welw) CDC (Meliaceae) is widely used in West Africa for the treatment of fever. The dried powdered stem-bark plant was extracted with various solvents. resulting extracts and column purified fractions therefrom were tested their antimalarial properties using Plasmodium berghei vivo determinations falciparum vitro antiplasmodial activities. n -hexane extract, crude gave most active activities about 91% chemosuppression IC 50 values 1.4 µg/ml (for multi-drug...
, belonging to the family Apocynaceae, is one of best-known medicinal plants in Africa and Asia. Stem back preparations are traditionally used as muscle relaxants. This study investigated antispasmodic properties
Context: Co-administration of amodiaquine with MAMA decoction (MD), an herbal antimalarial drug comprising the leaves Mangifera indica L. (Anacardiaceae), Alstonia boonei De Wild (Apocynaceae), Morinda lucida Benth (Rubiaceae) and Azadirachta A. Juss (Meliaceae) was investigated. The practice concurrent administration medicines orthodox drugs is currently on increase globally. Objective: study designed to investigate possible enhancement potency as well herb–drug interaction resulting from...
The research pattern in medicinal plants and traditional medicine practices Nigeria is largely unknown. Hence this paper examined such patterns with a view to determining how the country fared herbal development. study also identified number of scientific outputs. Factors that mar were discussed. Descriptive analytical technique was adopted analyzing secondary data obtained from book abstracts published findings on Nigerian medicines for 42 years (1970-2012). Results showed most researched...
Aim: Medicinal plants have played an important role in the treatment of different ailments including malaria developing countries particularly Africa.
