We present a four-step synthesis of (+)-artemone from (–)-linalool, featuring iminium organocatalysis doubly diastereoselective conjugate addition reaction. The strategy follows proposed biosynthetic pathway, rapidly generates stereochemical complexity, uses no protecting groups, and minimizes redox manipulations.

Polymer brushes are found in biomedical and industrial technologies, where they exhibit functionalities considerably dependent on polymer brush-solvent-analyte interactions. It remains a difficult challenge to quickly analyze solvent-swollen brushes, both at the solvent-polymer brush interface interior, as well monitor kinetics of interaction with key analytes. Here, we demonstrate novel use silicon photonic microring resonators characterize situ swollen brush-analyte By monitoring resonant...

Droplet microfluidic optodes, or “droptodes”, allow for rapid detection of small ions in complex matrices. Droptodes' sensitivity can be manipulated by varying channel geometry and droplet size.
