A lenslike glass fiber guide with a parabolic variation of refractive index has been developed. This optical named SELFOC® the following characteristics: simultaneous transmission laser beams modulated by wide-band signals through narrow space; image transmission; realization lens tiny aperture or extremely short focal length; and possibility being bent small radius curvature without spoiling characteristics. In case typical length 1 meter diameter 0.3 mm, loss is about 0.2 dB depolarization...

A simple method has been devised for the experimental determination of mode conversion coefficients in multimode fibers and involves only observation far-field output as angle incidence a collimated input beam is changed. The normalized coupling coefficient liquid-core fiber D = 3 x 10(-6) rad(2) m(-1) increases by much factor 10 when transverse pressure applied. Values some 2 orders magnitude larger are found glass-core fibers. There good agreement between theory presented experiment.

Aim: Functional neuroimaging studies to date have indicated prefrontal dysfunction in late‐onset major depression (LOD). The relationships between and clinical characteristics including social functioning, however, been unclear. objective of the present study was evaluate hemodynamic response related an executive task LOD assess relationship activation regions functioning. Methods: Twenty‐four subjects with 30 age‐ gender‐matched healthy were recruited for study. Hemoglobin concentration...

Abstract BACKGROUND Numerous reports have examined the relationship between hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and either facilitation or suppression of occurrence hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS In this study, we measured serum HGF concentrations blood samples conducted prospective studies to examine long‐term outcome C‐viral chronic hepatitis (CH) cirrhosis in patients. The subjects study include 99 patients with CH, cirrhosis, HCC. level was within 48 hours collection using...

We have operated on 12 of 14 cases arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the posterior fossa since 1968, with one death. The lesions were cerebellum 10 (three anteromedial, central, three lateral, and posteromedial), cerebellopontine angle two; two directly related to brain stem. AVM's anterior part through a transtentorial occipital approach.

Simple formulae are given for the field displacement caused by bending, change in mode volume and coupling loss which arises at transitions between straight curved sections of single-mode optical fibre. These good agreement with other, more exact, theories.

We examined prospectively the influence of occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on histopathological features and clinical outcome HCV RNA-positive chronic (CH-C) detected core (HBc) particles in hepatocytes. The subjects were 468 patients with CH-C or liver cirrhosis (LC) who negative for serum surface antigen (HBsAg) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. HBV DNA was nested PCR. HBsAg HBc (HBcAg) investigated using immunohistochemical techniques light (LM) electron microscopy (EM)....

We treated patients with C-viral chronic hepatitis (CH) and liver cirrhosis (LC) polaprezinc determined prospectively the effect on long-term outcome. 62 were enrolled. Of these, 32 administered 1.0 g remainder not polaprezinc. measured serum zinc concentrations using conventional atomic absorption spectrometry conducted a prospective study to determine outcome of therapy.
