The biological and functional significance of selected Critical Assessment Techniques for Protein Structure Prediction 14 (CASP14) targets are described by the authors structures. highlight most relevant features target proteins discuss how well these were reproduced in respective submitted predictions. overall ability to predict three-dimensional structures has improved remarkably CASP14, many difficult modeled with impressive accuracy. For first time history CASP, experimentalists not only...
Abstract Peptidoglycan hydrolases contribute to the generation of helical cell shape in Campylobacter and Helicobacter bacteria, while cytoskeletal or periskeletal proteins determine curved, vibrioid Caulobacter Vibrio . Here, we identify a peptidoglycan hydrolase vibrioid-shaped predatory bacterium Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus which invades replicates within periplasm Gram-negative prey bacteria. The protein, Bd1075, generates curvature B. by exerting LD-carboxypeptidase activity upon...
Abstract The vibrioid predatory bacterium Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus secretes prey wall-modifying enzymes to invade and replicate within the periplasm of Gram-negative bacteria. Studying self-modification predator wall peptidoglycan during predation, we discover that Bd1075 generates self-wall curvature by exerting LD-carboxypeptidase activity in B. strain HD100 as it grows inside spherical prey. localizes outer curved face , contrast most known shape-determinants. Asymmetric protein...
