The Impella LP 2.5 (Abiomed, Danvers, MA) has been a tool of use for high risk coronary procedures and cardiogenic shock. As with any invasive or intracardiac device, improper placement can result in disastrous complications. Hemolytic anemia secondary to implantation is one the documented However, cases severe hemolytic are rare literature. Proven imaging modalities like ultrasound need be used guide proper placement. We present case device induced hemolysis due insertion guidance avoid...

Staphylococcus warneri, a coagulase negative staphylococcus, has been isolated in prosthetic device-related infections and reported as rare cause of endocarditis. We report case aortic valve S. warneri endocarditis, which the patient lacked typical infectious signs symptoms, instead presenting with congestive heart failure due to perforation valve. Providers should consider endocarditis low virulence pathogen such when presents failure, even absence fever, leukocytosis other symptoms.

We describe a patient with recent chest tube insertion leading to atrial fibrillation rapid ventricular rate that led multiple inappropriate internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD) shocks. This is the first reported case of this occurring in an ICD Our elderly emphysema presented spontaneous pneumothorax and developed following emergency thoracostomy. The had single lead received shocks for therapy zone. Although medical treatment helped stabilize patient, resolution occurred only after was...

The use of interatrial septal occluder devices is an efficacious and less invasive alternative to open heart surgery for the repair atrial defects. These present significant risks including thrombus formation on device subsequent thromboembolic events. We a case woman who presented with stroke-like symptoms five years after PFO closure. patient was subsequently found have device. Our highlights risk such thrombolic phenomenon associated structure as nidus complication.

Catheter related thrombosis (CRT) is a commonly encountered entity fraught with substantial risk for mortality secondary to various complications including pulmonary embolism (PE), tricuspid regurgitation, endocarditis, right sided heart failure, and cardiogenic septic shock. CRT carries rate of 18% in hemodialysis patients more than 40% nonhemodialysis patients. Management strategies include systemic anticoagulation, thrombolysis, surgical evacuation, percutaneous retrieval no established...
