Significance Loss of skeletal muscle mass, or sarcopenia, is nearly universal in cirrhosis and adversely affects the outcome these patients. There are no established therapies to prevent reverse sarcopenia because mechanisms not known. We show that expression myostatin, a negative regulator increased cirrhotic mediated by ammonia concentration. Skeletal concentrations significantly cirrhosis, resulting activation transcription factor NF-κB, which turn increases myostatin. Given high...

Hyperammonemia and sarcopenia (loss of skeletal muscle) are consistent abnormalities in cirrhosis portosystemic shunting. We have shown that muscle ubiquitin-proteasome components not increased with hyperammonemia despite sarcopenia. This suggests an alternative mechanism proteolysis contributes to cirrhosis. hypothesized autophagy could be this pathway since we observed increases classic markers, LC3 lipidation, beclin-1 expression, p62 degradation immunoblots protein cirrhotic patients....

The differential quasilinearization method (DQM) is presented as an effective technique for obtaining approximate analytical solutions to ordinary equations (ODEs). This converts general ODEs into a sequence of linear ODEs, facilitating efficient computation successive approximations. As demonstrated by examples in the text, DQM especially well-suited addressing implicit or nonlinear ODEs.

This paper introduces a power series framework for modeling chemical reaction rates, offering mathematically flexible and physically interpretable alternative to traditional power-law models. By expressing rates as multivariate of reactant concentrations, this approach captures the contributions multi-molecular interactions synergistic effects, which are often neglected in conventional

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from building and furnishing materials represent a major concern of indoor air quality, in particular new buildings. We carried out multiweek nontargeted VOC measurements 10 apartments Beijing, China, using online chemical ionization mass spectrometry. Dimethyl esters succinic, glutaric, adipic acids, which are rarely known for their presence air, were identified three apartments. The identification was confirmed authentic standards by gas...

We propose a point segmentation and grouping method to generate road maps from GPS traces. First, we present progressive cloud algorithm based on Total Least Squares (<small>TLS</small>) line fitting. Second, group topologically connected clusters by the point's orientation cluster's spatial proximity, where topological relationship is generated using Hidden Markov Model (<small>HMM</small>) map matching. Finally, refine intersections of roads so that their...

We propose a new segmentation and grouping framework for road map inference from GPS traces. first present progressive Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Application with Noise (DBSCAN) algorithm an orientation constraint to partition the whole point set traces into clusters that represent segments. A cluster algorithm, according topological relationship spatial proximity recover network, is then developed. After generating clusters, robust Locally-Weighted Scatterplot Smooth (Lowess)...

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the main type of with high mortality worldwide. To improve NSCLC therapy, exploration molecular mechanisms involved in progression and identification their potential therapy targeting important. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have shown important roles regulating various tumors progression, including NSCLC. We found lncRNA GHRLOS was decreased lines tissues which correlated poor prognosis patients. However, role underlying remains elusive. The expression...

The separation of oil/water mixture by the use selective absorption materials has been currently studied most wildly. However, safe disposal absorbent waste is challenging. Here, degradable polyhemiaminal (PHA) aerogel was fabricated one-step precipitation-polymerization. resulting PHA aerogels showed low density, hydrophobicity, and high specific surface areas. These characteristics, together with porous structure, imparted it outstanding properties separation. More interestingly, a device...
