Abstract The fibrogenic response in tissue-resident fibroblasts is determined by the balance between activation and repression signals from tissue microenvironment. While molecular pathways which transforming growth factor-1 (TGF-β1) activates pro-fibrogenic mechanisms have been extensively studied are recognized critical during fibrosis development, factors regulating TGF-β1 signaling poorly understood. Here we show that macrophage hypoxia suppresses excessive a heart via oncostatin-m (OSM)...

Heart failure is a major public health problem, and abnormal iron metabolism common in patients with heart failure. Although necessary for metabolic homeostasis, it induces programmed necrosis. Iron release from ferritin storage through nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4)-mediated autophagic degradation, known as ferritinophagy. However, the role of ferritinophagy stressed remains unclear. Deletion Ncoa4 mouse hearts reduced left ventricular chamber size improved cardiac function along...

Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is an under-recognized cause of heart failure (HF) in older adults. Delayed ATTR-CM diagnosis may result more advanced symptoms. This study describes the journey Japanese patients with ATTR-CM. retrospective non-interventional used DeSC Healthcare database. Patients aged ≥18 years at index date (date when was first diagnosed or tafamidis 80 mg prescription, whichever earlier) and who had received ≥1 prescription specific diagnosis, excepting...

We have shown that maternal manganese (Mn) exposure caused sustained disruption of hippocampal neurogenesis mouse offspring. To clarify the effects Mn on epigenetic gene regulation contributing to neurogenesis, we treated pregnant ICR mice with MnCl2 in diet from gestational day 10 through 21 after delivery weaning and searched epigenetically downregulated genes by global promoter methylation analysis dentate gyrus male offspring postnatal (PND) PND 77. By CpG microarray following 800-ppm...

The use of dendritic cells (DCs) for cancer vaccination is effective in suppressing progression. This because the DCs play a crucial role priming tumor-specific immunity efficiently as antigen-presenting cells. In this study, we analyzed ability to elicit and clinical effects DC vaccine immunotherapy targeting MUC1 tumor antigens. from 14 patients with advanced or metastatic breast lung (9 positive 5 negative MUC1) were loaded antigens lysate used therapeutic vaccination. After vaccination,...

Bevacizumab, an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A, is currently used to treat patients with ovarian or colon cancer. While several cardiovascular toxicities related bevacizumab-containing regimens have been reported, the effect bevacizumab on coronary microcirculation has not fully elucidated. Here we report a case 54-year-old female patient who developed microvascular angina after series chemotherapeutic regimen. The discontinuation and nicorandil administration was...

We have previously reported that a 28-day treatment of carcinogens evoking target cell proliferation activates G1 /S checkpoint function and apoptosis, as well induction aberrant ubiquitin D (Ubd) expression, suggesting disruptive spindle function, in rats. The present study aimed to determine the onset time rat liver cells undergo carcinogen-specific cycle aberration proliferation. Animals were treated orally with hepatocarcinogenic dose methyleugenol or thioacetamide for 3, 7 28 days. For...

Antifungal activity of Shikon, roots Lithospermum erythrorhizon and Arnebia euchroma was investigated in vitro. The extracts containing the pigments Ko-shikon or Nan-shikon showed antifungal activities against Candida albicans. Acetylshikonin, one these pigments, inhibited fungal growth at MIC 15.6 micrograms/ml (RPMI24 h) 3.9 (YNB24 h).

Left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) is commonly observed in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) or left hypertrophy (LVH). While some develop LVOTO at rest, it can also be provoked by physical exertion, and hence termed latent (L-LVOTO). Recent reports demonstrated that L-LVOTO develops not only LVH patients, but without (non-LVH). However, the prevalence clinical prognosis of non-LVH are yet elucidated. In this study, we retrospectively investigated...
