Data on the burden of acute heart failure (AHF) admissions, practice patterns, and outcomes are rare from India other low- middle-income countries. We aimed to describe baseline characteristics, guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) prescribing patterns 90-day mortality rates in patients admitted with AHF Kerala, India.
We report patient characteristics, treatment pattern and one-year clinical outcome of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) from Kerala, India. This cohort forms part Kerala Atrial Fibrillation (KERALA-AF) registry which is an ongoing large prospective study. KERALA-AF collected data adults with previously or newly diagnosed (AF) during April 2016 to 2017. A total 3421 patients were recruited 53 hospitals across state. analysed follow-up 2507 NVAF. Mean age at recruitment was 67.2 years...

Short term outcomes of patients with pulmonary hypertension are not available from low and middle-income countries including India. We conducted a prospective study 2003 hypertension, 50 centres (PROKERALA) in Kerala, who were followed up for one year. Pulmonary (PH) was mainly diagnosed on the basis Doppler echocardiography. The primary outcome composite end-point all-cause death hospital admission heart failure. All cause hospitalisation events constituted secondary outcome. Mean age...
Primary PTCA is the treatment of choice for patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction. The Infarction (MI) as well those who undergo have altered sleep quality. primary objective this study was to investigate effects on quality in following procedure. This follow up conducted at Department Cardiology, LF Hospital Angamaly. focused 60 diagnosed acute MI underwent PTCA. In study, we investigated alterations pre-procedural, one-month and two-month post-procedural Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index...
The presentation and outcomes of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) during COVID times (June 2020 to Dec 2020) were compared with the historical control same period in 2019. Data 4806 consecutive patients HF admitted 22 centres country collected this period. admission patterns, aetiology, outcomes, prescription guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) interventions analysed retrospective study. Admissions for pandemic decreased by 20% corresponding six-month 2019, numbers dropping...
Tropical endomyocardial fibrosis (EMF) is endemic in southern districts of Kerala state India, and sporadic cases are reported from other parts Kerala. Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) the initial imaging tool diagnostic for this condition. The inherent limitation TTE its limited sensitivity detection intracardiac thrombus. echocardiography, contrast-enhanced cardiac computed tomography, magnetic resonance (CMR) modalities This report describes a 46-year-old male with right ventricular EMF...
Background Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) provides better assessment of vessel size, lesion length and plaque characteristics. There is paucity data regarding the impact IVUS on stenting pattern during primary percutaneous intervention (PCI) for ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Methods We included patients with STEMI undergoing IVUS-guided PCI. Diagnostic angiograms were analysed by two different operators who not part procedure. They asked to formulate a treatment plan which...
Heart failure (HF) is a multi-morbid chronic condition, which adversely affects the quality of life affected individual. Engaging patient and their caregivers in self-care known to reduce mortality, rehospitalisation improve among HF patients. The PACT-HF trial will answer whether clinical benefits terms mortality hospitalisation outcomes can be demonstrated by using pragmatic design explore specific effects physical activity, cognitive behavioural therapy patients India.
Cholesterol embolism is a rare complication of percutaneous vascular procedures. It usually diagnosed from the typical cutaneous manifestations and delayed development renal failure. Here we report patient who developed incessant vomiting following procedure later cholesterol embolism. Even though gastrointestinal may be seen up to 20% patients, this first case in which symptoms are as initial presentation

In India, data from large HF registries has demonstrated significantly lower 5-year mortality rates for patients with HFrEF discharged on guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), revealing an important target intervention to improve clinical outcomes. Hospital-based quality improvement initiatives increase of GDMT at hospital discharge have had limited effect, suggesting additional strategies are needed in patients. Polypills been proposed as implementation strategy simplify the current...
