Objective. To evaluate the efficacy of tadalafil as add-on therapy in secondary RP resistant to vasodilators. Methods. Patients with scleroderma and MCTD having four or more attacks per week despite being on vasodilators were randomized receive either placebo (20 mg) alternate days their current for 6 weeks. After a 7-day washout, patients crossed over other arm. Primary endpoints improvement daily frequency duration episodes condition score (RCS). Secondary outcome measures healing existing...
Abstract Objective The aim of the study was to identify indicated homeopathic remedies based on clinical characteristics coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in India. Methods In this retrospective, cohort study, confirmed COVID-19 admitted at a COVID Health Centre New Delhi between April 29 and June 17, 2020 were given conventional treatment. Patients grouped into mild, moderate or severe categories disease. Their symptomatologic profiles analyzed medicines. Results A total 196...
We evaluated T helper lymphocyte profile, including novel Th17 subsets Th17.1 (secrete IFN-γ, associate with corticosteroid resistance) and PD1+Th17 TGF-β1, implicated in fibrosis), related cytokines peripheral blood of Takayasu arteritis (TAK).We circulating Th1, Th2, Th17, Th17.1, PD1+CD4+ lymphocytes, PD1+Th17, Treg inflammatory (IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-6, IL-17A, IL-23, IL-1β, TNF-α) regulatory (IL-10, TGF-β1) TAK (n = 57; median age 35 (interquartile range 26-45) years; 40 females) a...
ABSTRACT Background and Aims: Hip replacement surgery is a commonly performed with the aim of improving mobility in patients suffering from hip conditions. Though modified suprainguinal approach fascia iliaca block (SFIB) used, analgesic efficacy moderate associated quadriceps weakness. The pericapsular nerve group (PENG) has been used to sensory articular branches joint various surgeries. This study aimed compare SFIB PENG terms pain relief, opioid consumption their adverse effects...
Despite the easy and reliable methods of blood pressure measurement, screening essential hypertension (EH) is usually ignored due to delayed onset symptoms. A probe into biochemical changes in would serve as a welcome asset provide insight mechanistic aspects EH. Filtered serum samples from 64 EH patients 59 healthy controls (HC) were analysed using 800 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Application principal component analysis (PCA) orthogonal partial least-squares...
Takayasu arteritis (TAK) could cause a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) in young individuals due to inflammatory vascular occlusion intracerebral hemorrhage. We compared the clinical presentation, angiographic features, longitudinal patterns of disease activity, medical treatments, and survival 34 TAK patients with stroke/TIA 157 without from single-center retrospective cohort. were older (p = 0.044) greater proportion males 0.022), more frequent vision loss (odds ratio (OR) for vs....
AbstractAbstractPolycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) like insulin resistance, hyperinsulinism, hypertension and dyslipidemia. We studied CVD in young women (18–35 years age) PCOS using carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) brachial artery flow mediated dilation (FMD) which are markers of subclinical atherosclerosis. Fifty (age: 24.3 ± 4 years; body mass index [BMI]: 24.6 kg/m2) were compared 50 age BMI matched healthy...
To analyze the risk, causes, and predictors of mortality in Takayasu arteritis (TAK).Survival was assessed a cohort patients with TAK using Kaplan-Meier curves. Age- sex-standardized ratio (SMR = observed: expected deaths) for were calculated by applying age- sex-specific rates local population to calculate deaths. Hazard ratios (HR 95%CI) based on demographic characteristics, presenting features, baseline angiographic involvement, disease activity, number immunosuppressive medications used,...
Diagnosing cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) is challenging due to the lack of a sensitive gold standard diagnostic test. Although advanced imaging techniques like magnetic resonance (MRI) (cardiovascular [CMR]) and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) CT are promising, they limited by their availability cost. Two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) emerging as valuable tool for early detection CS.
With the increasing prevalence of coronary artery disease, percutaneous procedures have become even more important. Our study has compared transradial to transfemoral approach for in Indian population.Comparison and procedures.26,238 patients, who underwent procedures, were divided into two groups depending upon various demographic clinical characteristics, risk factors profile, vascular access procedural details.26,238 patients at our center. 81% male 19% female. 55.65% 44.35% done through...
The present study compares disease characteristics, imaging modalities used, and patterns of treatment in two large cohorts Takayasu arteritis (TAK) from Italy India. Clinic files were retrospectively reviewed to retrieve information about initial choices vascular immunosuppressive therapies. Unpaired t-tests compared means, proportions using Fisher’s exact test or Chi square [Odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) calculated where appropriate]. comprised 318 patients [Italy...
Enhancing the pulmonary annulus renders valve incompetent in cases of tetralogy Fallot. A pressure-loaded right ventricle may change to a volume-loaded ventricle, which dilate and eventually dysfunction. This study evaluated new technique fashioning monocusp from untreated autologous pericardium suspended on transannular patch. It was assessed 40 children undergoing complete repair Fallot between January 2005 December 2007. 24 patients had patch alone (group A) 16 received with pericardial...
Studies on the changes in presentation and management of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) during COVID-19 pandemic from low- middle-income countries are limited. We sought to determine number admissions, practices, outcomes AMI period India.
Right ventricular function affects the outcome in valvular heart disease but less is known about relation between indices of dysfunction and outcome. Seventy patients undergoing mitral valve replacement April 2007 2008 for predominant rheumatic stenosis were included study. Two groups formed based on right systolic pressure (RVSP), <or=40 mmHg (group I, n=16) >41 II, n=54). ventricle (RV) studied by echocardiography. RVSP reduced significantly group II (P=0.0001) not I. Brain natriuretic...
Congenital diverticulum of the left ventricle is amalformation, often associated with midline thoraco-abdominal defects. Here we describe a case isolated congenital ventricular that presented an abnormal four-chamber view and fetal dysrhythmia on ultrasonography. Maternal digoxin therapy was started due to significant ectopy. Restoration sinus rhythm achieved within 48 h. Serial echocardiograms were performed every week, followed by normal vaginal delivery at term. The child surviving 1 year age.
